S.Love –
Small fixture does same job as the big ones
I have 3 Red Eared slider turtles that bask during the day under their lamps. One of the lamp fixtures had broken so I was down one lamp and the turtles were literally racing to get to the two lights first. This would leave one of them waiting around in the water to get a chance to sneak up under the light when one of the others would jump in the water to cool off and take a swim. When that was taking too long they will get up there and climb on top of one of the other turtles. It’s actually pretty funny watching them do that but it also males me feel bad because there is always one turtle not getting the proper light and heat throughout the day. The lights I currently have are bigger so they don’t leave much space for a 3rd light fixture. This is the perfect size for all 3 lights to fit on top of their basking area. This particular light fixture is smaller and puts out the same amount of light and heat that the two bigger ones do. The quality of the heat lamp is great, well put together and it withstands the heat very well without getting too hot. Now I want to get 2 more of these and do away with the bigger ones so the basking area doesn’t look so cluttered on top. I will provide some photos as soon as they get back settled into their routines. Any changes to their environment causes them to be skittish and they jump in the water when I try to take photos. It usually takes about 3 days for them to get back to feeling safe when I approach their tank and basking area.
