Perfect T5 Fixture & Lighting For The Cost Without Committing To A Big Brand Name
I originally had a T8 light fixture but after burning through 4-5 bulbs (which were brand new) within the span of a week it was deduced it was an issue with the fixture. I decided I needed an upgrade to a stronger light anyways, so this fixture and T5 bulb were perfect. They shipped and came in quick. Assembly was a piece of cake. I tested to make sure the light and fixture were working fine out of the box. Can’t say how long the bulb will last, and it’s actual effectiveness but it’s wayyyyy better than what I originally had. Will order from here in the future when I’ll be switching the rest of the geckos over to T5 lighting. If you’re just dipping your feet in and testing the waters with T5 lighting, this is the way to do it before making any commits to bigger brand names and spending hundreds on lighting. For reference, my enclosure is 24″ x 18″ x 18″. The 22″ sits perfectly across the 24″ mesh top.

Good quality lighting for our lizard
We got this for our lizard’s tank. We have two bulky lights on it presently and this one fit the length of the tank perfectly and rests directly on the metal mesh top so literally we took it out of the box, plugged it in and placed it on the top and it was good to go. Nice bright light eminating the sunlight. Strong sturdy light base. Removable power supply with on / off switch. Good. price

Decent budget T5
I’ve used several of these off brand T5 lights. Because they’re made so inexpensively, both the bulbs and the fixtures are more prone to problems than, say an Arcadia T5. It’s a toss up between the two. I prefer to spend more for more durable and last longer equipment, bit I do see the appeal with these less expensive models. Both the fixture and the replacement bulbs offer considerable savings, but you will have to replace both sooner than you would with the higher end models. What these ARE good for:– Trying out T5 lighting for the first time.– Trying T5 lights on a specific animal. For example, my blue tongue skink and cane toad really like these compared to standard florescent UV and MVBs, but my beardie prefers the MVBs.– Stocking an emergency kit. Everyone with reptiles should have backups in case of a natural disaster or other emergency where the animals need to leave the house. I keep mine in a standard storage bin, and these fit nicely inside without taking up too much space. What they’re NOT good for:– High humidity enclosures, especially those that receive daily misting. I inadvertently misted the lamp in my cane toad’s enclosure and both the fixture and bulb died immediately. And when I say mist, I mean fine mist drifted up to the light. I didn’t spray the light directly. If you plan to use these as daily lights, just be sure to have a backup bulb as they tend to burn out quicker… But that’s a good idea regardless of the lighting you choose.
