My fish seem to like it too, it didn’t stress them at all by adding it.
This is a GREAT fish tank filter. It was packaged well and shipped quick. The instructions weren’t very clear, I had to look at the online picture to figure out where some of the tubes go and how things should work but it only added just a minute or two to my installation time, it was super easy to figure out from the pictures. It’s a strong but quiet filter and has helped the health of my tank tremendously. The stock filter it came with just couldn’t keep up. The suction cups with this one work well and hold it in place and the filter is able to be cleaned. It’s a good size to fit in the tank but not take up a ton of room. My fish seem to like it too, it didn’t stress them at all by adding it.

Surprised by the power, lacks instructions
This inexpensive little filter puts in some hard work! The water flow through this filter is strong, and it creates a strong, adjustable current. It attaches easily to the wall of the tank and sucks in water from the bottom. They give you a little plastic water redirecting piece that you can twist and bend to make the water outflow go wherever you want. You can see in my attached videoâ I have a heavily planted tank, and when the current is pointed straight ahead, it pushes all of the plants basically horizontally. I chose to angle the outflow diagonally toward another wall of the tank so that it could disperse the current a bit. Some of my more curious and energetic fish were having a blast surfing the current on full blast, though!I docked a star because the instructions are basically nonexistent, so youâre on your own to figure out how everything goes together and functions. The filter comes with an air tube and an air split nozzle, but I have no idea what it does for this filter. I tried attaching a bubbler to it and no air went through it. I ended up putting the black cap back on because I just donât know what itâs supposed to do.

Works perfectly
This filter works quite well for my 20 gallon tank. It’s very easy to set up, and you simply have to plug it in and it’s good to go. It’s not too loud, so it’s perfect for my living room. It seems pretty durable so far (it’s been running for about 2 weeks). Overall, this is a great choice for anyone looking for a filter for a smallish aquarium.

Pimp burnt up in a week of underwater usauage
Unfortunately, this filter didnât work out for me. The power cable is very short, which makes placement difficult unless your outlet is right next to the tank. After just one week of use, the pump burned outâit only makes a noise now as if itâs trying to run, but the impeller just locks up.I suspect it overheated, since it failed so quickly. While the design and features sound good on paper, the reliability just wasnât there in my experience.Overall, I canât recommend this filter due to both the short cord and the pump burning out so fast.

Not great
I wouldnât recommend this filter. Unfortunately it doesnât come apart all the way making it impossible to clean fully. It is also very large and takes up a lot of room in the tank. The output it pretty good but I donât think it would work for anything bigger than 20 gallons. It is cheaply made and not the best filter material either.

It works but it has a few issues
I needed an in-tank filter to add some extra flow to my 90 gallon planted tank, but I also have a bunch of cherry shrimp so I needed something safe for them. I went with this filter because it draws water from the bottom and passes it through two sponges, which makes it very unlikely any of my shrimp will ever get caught in the pump.I am not a big fan of the color, but it actually turned out to be useful since I can easily see when the sponges need to be rinsed. They start turning dark brown at the bottom, which is an obvious sign. Function over form in this case. That said, I did run into two issues. First, it had a strong chemical smell out of the box. I filled a utility sink with water and ran the filter for three days before the smell finally went away. I think it was coming from the sponges, but I cannot be sure. I always rinse or run new equipment before adding it to a tank, but with this filter it was absolutely necessary. The second issue was almost a deal breaker. Splitting the two sections apart was very difficult. I had to use a butter knife to gently pry one side up so it could slide past the seating bump. The plastic feels like poly acrylic, and if I had gone any further I am sure it would have snapped. It still might after more use.All that aside, it definitely helps clean the tank. I have been dealing with an algae problem lately and needed more filtration. The pull is strong enough to collect debris but not too strong to bother the shrimp. Overall I am going to keep using it, just with those issues in mind.

A good backup filter that helps keep my 46 gallon tank clean
Pros: this filter works well in my angel fish tank and I like that it gives them a bit of current as well. This a secondary filter in the tank but it is collecting a lot of the waist. Iâm thankful for that but I do have to clean it quite frequently.Cons: it is a bit fragile and came apart several times when I was putting it in the tank and once when my giant pleco hit it.Conclusion: a good back up filter that helps keep my 46 gallon tank clean.

Works for what I needed it for
I needed a decent filter in a pinch for a quarantine aquarium and this was great. It’s built well and won’t come apart easily. I like the separate compartments for different sizes of aquarium needs. I haven’t had to use all the features because my tank is on the smaller side. It’s designed so you can separate one of the filter compartments and replace the filters that way. It’s a pretty good value for the money and I hope it’ll last a while.
