Best bang for your buck.
This is one of the best thermostats you can buy for the money. Iâm using it on a few enclosures with heat tape underneath. Iâve used more expensive and cheaper thermostats before. I think for the money this one is great!
It’s Just Me –
Timer, rather than Function
There are two very similar Exo Terra 600 watt thermostats. This is the one that has a timer, so you can set when it switches from daytime temperatures to nighttime temperatures. The other thermostat, which says it has a day/night ‘function’ uses a sensor to switch between day and night temperatures. So, make sure you pick the one you want.But that’s JustMe.

I’ve used this device for roughly ~3 weeks, and it hasn’t failed me yet. The device is quite easy to operate compared to other dimming thermostats. It maintains the temperature accurately, and the display is bright enough to be seen across with room, without substantially increasing the light level. It’s a great little contraption.

153 degrees!
I bought this to help manage the temps in my bearded dragon’s enclosure. Initially, it worked just like it’s supposed to. Every 2 hours I’d check the temperature with a temp gun to see if it was accurate and it was. By the 4th day I was feeling pretty confident that I’d made a great purchase. I then started verifying the temp every 4 hours. All was good day 4 and day 5. On day 6, I opened the door to the enclosure to feed my dragon. I was hit with a wall of heat that felt like a blast furnace! I used the temp gun and it was 153 degrees at her basking spot!! It was so hot that her basking rock (plastic) had started to melt!. The probe on the unit read 102 degrees so I guess the temp. probe went bad. I hate to think what would have happened if I hadn’t been home, baked bearded dragon. Returning it was no problem and my refund was taken care of in a couple of days. I wanted this to work so bad. But I’m hesitant to order another one in case this is a problem with all of them. It was perfect for what I needed. I haven’t found another brand that works the same way.

Temperature Adjust Dial No Longer Responds
Seemed to work great until i tried making an adjustment to the temperature. The knob you turn left or right to adjust up or down does not respond (after following the directions of holding the button for 4 seconds), so it is stuck on the default setting. Almost ordered another one for my second terrarium, now i will be be cancelling that second order. The “Support” window apparently closed last month in October. I ordered in July.EDIT: I contacted the company about the issue and with a few back and forth emails and few picture requests, they have handled the problem promptly (i have not received the replacement unit just yet, but thought it fair to update since their customer service has been very good so far).

I compared this with Habistat Pulse and MIcroclimate Pulse – during 24 hours in an incubator controlling silicone 220 v heat cable, Exo Terra was almost like straight line, almost no detactable changes in temp, max 0.1 degree. Habistat 1 degree up and down but consistant so I belive its no issue. Microclimate – this was the old Oled Pulse but I think tech is same today, 3 degrees drop and rise like 9 times for a 30 min during the 24/h felt strange. Will not use for uÃncubator.. Exo terra much mre features and half the price and 100% performance.

Updated May 20, 202210 months of use and still working perfectly, I have been very happy with this thermostat and it is very accurate and keeps my leopard geckos basking area at a very consistent tempreture, pairs perfectly with the arcadia deep heat projector.If your looking for a thermostat I would still reccomend this one after almost a year of use, will update again next year.I really like this thermostat it’s easy to use, and accurate and works perfectly with the deep heat projector on dimming mode to maintain the exact temperature it’s set for, so much better than the on/off type thermostats, and it automatically adjusts to the nighttime temp which is awesome.I would suggest this type of thermostat if using a ceramic heat emitter or deep heat projectors as it will conserve the life of your heating element as well as maintain a near perfect temp for your reptiles.
