Discover the secrets of equine behavior and transform your relationship with your horse…
The day you meet your horse for the first time is the day you cherish forever.
Imagine walking on a lush green paddock to see your horse for the first time. He is tethered to a fence, his beautiful mane billowing in the wind.
Your heart races with anticipation, your pulse quickens, and you feel drawn to your horse.
You walk up to him, extend your hand for the horse to sniff, waiting for the moment when he’ll allow you to pat him…. but the horse pins his ears back, swishes his tail, and tries to kick you!
That doesn’t make for a very good memory, does it?
If this happens, you might wonder what is wrong with your horse… why was he acting crazy?
Only he wasn’t, you just didn’t know how to read his behavior.
Your horse is not necessarily trying to misbehave or cause trouble. Bucking, biting, rearing, kicking, pulling back — these are all behaviors that help your horse communicate.
He isn’t saying: I don’t like you.
He could be telling you: I don’t trust you, or I hurt.
So answer this…
Are you looking for ways to bond with your horse on a deeper level?
Do you want to uncover the secrets of how a horse’s brain works?

Not just for beginners
Everything horse for beginners was and easy read and very informative. I owned a horse for a couple of years before a surgical setback forced me to sell, but I wish I had access to this book before I got started in the horse owning process. This book explains so much about horse care, behavior, choosing the right horse for you, training, and so many wonderful details. This is a great read even if you are just going to be around horses and you are not a horse person. It’s excellent information to have just to know how to be around them. If you are the primary horse person and read this book, also have your partner/spouse and kids read it too. I can’t say enough about it. Read the book! 🙂

Very Informative Book
This book is well-written and an easy read. It has a great deal of information for the target audience: beginners in the horse world. L. M. Taylor did a good job of introducing the many responsibilities of horse ownership. However, I found it was lacking in that she should have included pictures with the descriptions of the tools used for grooming, colors of horses, even the terms of blaze and star etc. (A picture is worth a thousand words.). There should have been at the least a small picture to help the reader more accurately understand and relate to what is being said especially if one is writing to a beginner. There is so much to understand when one is beginning. I also wish when speaking of fencing she would have mentioned the recommendation of a minimum height of five feet for horses. My horses can clear a shorter fence with ease. Overall I would recommend this book to someone just starting out or even someone who has been in the world of horse ownership for a while.

Everything horse
Every now and again I read beginning horse books. They remind me of things I haven’t thought of in awhile. This one provided very clear explanations regarding developing relationships with a horse as well as care and horse nutrition. Currently we have 7 horses, of various breeds and ages ranging from 3 to 23. So some just beginning and some in retirement. One of our older horses can’t eat hay so reading this book have me some new nutrition ideas. Also we just got two 3 year olds and am looking forward to trying some of the relationship ideas. I would recommend this book for anyone that loves horses.

Everything about horses
This book has knowledge for buying, grooming, training, ground work, approaching, ect. This book can help a beginner or experienced person with their horses. I purchased to add to my collection and also saw alternate ways to work with my horses. I recently purchased a 5 yr old Mustang, mare who still needs work. She gets spooked easily. I tried some training mentioned in book also supplementing my own and she responded well. She still needs work but she is doing better. I appreciate that LM Taylor wrote a well written book easily comprehended and informative to her readers.

It is clearly written and very understandable without being boring. I have been around horses all of my life and I still found things I didn’t know.I recommend this book to anyone starting their horse journey or anyone that wants to refresh their knowledge.

Easy to read and understand
A beginner would get benefits from reading this and so would people who have already had horses. There were some repetitive things that could have been caught with proof reading but overall I found it easy to read.

Horses
I bought this for my 11yr old daughter who is absolutely obsessed with horses. She absolutely loved this book and all the information in it. She is getting ready to reread it for a school book report. She just started 6th grade and I can’t wait to be able to help her!!

I found this book to be a great enjoyable, knowledgeable, informative, exploratory study of horses. The different types, how they first became a horse, the colors, what horses are used for, loud & soft sounds might frighten the horse into bolting, to get away from the noise, their sensitivity to smells also, the skills you must learn to care for your horse after you buy your 1 horse. What you need to care for your horse, such as what to feed them, give them water, blankets, food, too much noise, or sharp loud noises, startles the horse, adjusting to the individual horses new life. Caring for the sick & enjoying the time spent with them, treasuring the moments spent with the horses, giving them care & lovely doing daily chores with them, brushing them down, or cooling them down when it gets hot, or warming them when it is cold outside, giving them shelter, & other care. Sometimes riding the horse, or time walking around the horse ,with a lead familiarizing the horse & others to your scent. So coming up soon riding the horse, in stages, then moving up, as you learn more about the horse, his or her temperament . How they address the issues with your vet (doctor), in caring for your horse.
