    Perfect for a beginner
Bought this for my daughter to use for her English riding lessons. So far, it has been great. It fits well and it sturdy but still lightweight.

    Fit
The riding helmet fit well and liked the space for her pony tail. She is looking forward to the warm weather to see how the ventilation will be. It was this feature that the decision was made on.

    Runs big
I like the helmet, but the Med/Large was too big for my head, and I’m an adult woman of average-tall build. Gonna exchange for S/M and see how it goes. UPDATE COUPLE DAYS LATER- Exchange helmet is a perfect fit. Returned with no problems, arrived next day, 5 stars!

    Illusory vents
I’ve taken off two stars for a very misleading design and advertisement. There are large, perforated ovals on the sides of the helmet and a smaller perforated spot on the top. One would think this means there is air flowing through those “vents,” especially when the helmet is specifically advertised as featuring “vents that ensure breathability.” I took the liner out to see. There are two tiny (approximately 1/4th inch holes at the top through which daylight shines (and which will be covered up by the lining). Otherwise, there is no place for air to come in. (I could see some other ¼” holes scattered around, but they don’t correspond to where the exterior vents are, and no light shown through.) The appearance of large vents is thus entirely illusory. I’ve attached a picture of the inside. I’ve also attached a picture of the inside of the Ovation schooling helmet, whose exterior vents match the interior vents, so you can see what even a fairly minimally vented helmet would look like. If you live in a cold climate, you may love this helmet. It’s very attractive; I found it remarkably comfortable on my oval head; the branding is subtle which adds to the professional appearance; it sits properly on the head. Anyone who rides in the heat and really needs adequate venting, will need to look at other brands. I note that it runs large; even though my head is slightly larger than the minimum head measurement for the Equinavia S/M helmet, it is not entirely snug on the tightest notch of the dial. Using a thin sweatband took care of that problem. Helmets now standardly come with the dial strap feature at the back of the helmet. The dial strap on two other brands of helmets that I own are designed so the strap sits well under the widest part of the head. This makes for a very secure helmet. The strap on this helmet is straight so it needs to be pulled down firmly for a secure fit. All in all, for a low-priced helmet, it is very attractive and comfortable and will be a great choice for some people. But others will want to pay $5-10 more for a helmet with real venting.
