Situation2: If you have a big fish tank or the tank located in a low ambient temperature room, please preset heater temperature higher than your expecting temperature. In any case, please spend some time to check the water temperature changes, and adjust the temperature settings if it is your first time to use this heater. Quick Guide-Thermostatic Submersible Aquarium Heater
Firstly turn the blue button that on the top of the aquarium heater to adjust the temperature as you need. The blue number showing in the round circle indicating the temperature that you have set. Secondly put the aquarium heater upright into the water to make the suction cup stick to the side of tank as fully submersible.Thirdly plugin the aquarium heater into the socket.It will spend a few hours (Depend on the tank size and environment temperature)to heat the water warm as what the number you set. Please be patient.If you need to turn off the aquarium heater,please unplug it before removing it out from the water to avoid dry heating.Unplug the aquarium heater 10 minutes in advance of water changing. (Notice:The heater only can work properly when it is fully submersed, dry heating might cause a burst).
The heater is intermittent heating design, during the working time, heater will heating 5 minutes and stop 2 minutes (indicate light off), to get accurate water temperature and comfortable heating environment for the fishes. Please don’t worry when the heater stop working and indicate lights off, wait about 2-3 minutes, heating will restart automatically.
Maintenance , we suggest:
Check the heater working status regularly, if any strange signs, please plug off immediately.Clean the heater suction cups regularly (3 months) with 140℉ warm water and soak it for a while.If you found any soil or moss things covered on the heater, please plug off the heater and clean it with fresh water after 10 minutes later, especially the heating part stains. Do not use any other liquid to clean the heater, it may damage the heater.
Heater should be fully submerged into water. To make sure the temperature sensor can detect correct water temperature, please install the heater near the water flow, or install a suitable water pump to help heat diffusing.
Please install the heater properly and do not put your hands into the water while the heater heating (avoid electric shock or burned), please plug off the heater when you try to clean or maintenance the water tank.
Do not expose the heater above water, it could cause heater glass and other parts broken.

So far so good , I bought 2, one for each of my betta tanks. As soon as the water hit 78° i noticed both of my Bettas were happier and more active. A little large to stand upright in a 5 gallon tank but works good laying horizontally in their tanks

DOESNâT HEAT AND SHATTERED GLASS
I purchased this on April 10 for my turtleâs 55 gal tank. She needs the temperature to be at 75-85 degrees. For the first couple of weeks, it worked fine. One day, I noticed the temperature was under 65 degrees even though the temperature gage was above 75. I had to keep turning up the gage to try to fix the issue (even turning it past 90) with no luck. It wouldnât go past 70 which is too cold for my turtle. By the time this happened, it was past the return date. A couple of days later, I found the heater shattered. Luckily, my turtle wasnât in the her tank when this happened. Iâm very disappointed since I had read some great reviews before purchasing and was looking forward to this product. This all happened less than 2 months from purchase date. I wouldnât recommend due to the temperature inaccuracy and the shattered glass.

Iâve got this because my fishes been dying, I was thinking maybe is because the weather is too cold, so Iâve got this to rise the temperature a little higher, the item works properly, but the fishes kept dying, maybe is because of other reason, but I will keep an eye on it.

Kept my outdoor pond from freezing
I have a garden pond of approximately 40 gallons. I needed to keep it from freezing. It got down into the teens and it kept the water well above freezing. 100 watts is cheap to run. It’s like a reading light.
