In the wild, crested geckos experience fluctuating food availability and must actively search for meals, often burning more energy than geckos in captivity. Their natural diet varies with the seasons, shifting between different fruits and insects. Like many wild animals, their feeding patterns and energy expenditure are dynamic and ever-changing.
In contrast, captive geckos are fed consistently and expend far less energy, increasing the risk of obesity and related health issues such as metabolic bone disease, fatty liver, and reduced lifespan. Reproductive performance may also decline, with lower fertility and fewer clutches. How long does it last once it’s been prepared?
Mixed food can be kept in a sealed container and refrigerated for up to 7 days. The Blue River Diets mixing bottle is ideal to pre-mix your food and store in the fridge for convenient and quick feeding.

It is important to remove any uneaten food from the enclosure after 24hours
Do you need to add supplements to your gecko’s diet?
Blue River Diets include all the nutrients needed, so no need to add any supplements are required unless your gecko has any underlying health conditions, in which case must be advised by your vet.
Should you still offer live food?
Whilst from a nutritional perspective it is not necessary as all our diets are complete, we highly recommend feeding livefood as it encourages natural behaviours, exercise and general enrichment for your crested gecko.

Geckos really like is formula
My Geckos really seem to like this product. I mix it with the Pangea I guess it tastes better to them. I feed the Pangea growth and breeding mix. And they didn’t care for it that much. But now they are eating better. I wish this company made a diet like that.

Excellent feeding response from hatchlings
This flavor is the best for my crested geckos. I like the bug protein levels the best in this formula, but the fruity formulas are excellent too. I saw particular success with my hatchlings taking to Blue River Diets formulas over others.

Molds
This food molds REALLY quickly compared to other brands. However if our crested gecko feels like eating that night he will eat it before it molds but I don’t really like to chance it so I have tossed the rest after seeing already moldy by the next morning.

My crestie seems to enjoy the food, but the company needs to seriously reconsider it’s awful PR strategy.I bought this brand of food because it’s a British company. The food is made in the UK, made and sold by a British company, yet they use American spellings on their packaging?! This is not uncommon and is a gross attempt at sweetening up to an American market which shows contempt to it’s British roots and British customers.Looking at older reviews, this looks to be a newer sales strategy.Gross. I’ll keep looking for a British company which is actually proud of it, not wanting to sell it off for the sake of some American customers.

This flavour is quite hit and miss with the geckos. Out of 10 geckos I have about 6 that will eat and 4 that will either eat reluctantly or ignore it. I think it’s more my geckos than the food, however. It’s very easy to make and mixes nicely with just a tiny amount of water. As a dried product it lasts a long time, especially with the desiccant packet to remove moisture.
