Works Better Than I Imagined
I live on the edge of acres of woods and had tried everything to deter squirrels, who would eat all of the bird seed in my feeders while the birds had to watch. I tried squirrel proof feeders and shields for the poles and nothing worked. I was at the point of taking the feeders down because I was so frustrated. Two days after filling my feeders with bird seed coated with the sauce, there were no more squirrels. They haven’t even tried in over 2 months. I have so many different birds enjoying the coated bird seed. Don’t waste money on other gadgets to deter squirrels. This is well worth the money.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought this product based on all of the positive reviews. However, this didn’t work for me. I have a video bird feeder, so I get notified anytime something gets into the bird seed. Every video is of squirrels, and it’s non-stop until the seed is gone. They aren’t deterred in the slightest by this oil, even when I doubled the amount. Perhaps I have unusually spicy squirrels, maybe this doesn’t work.Â

Very Pungent!
This stuff is definitely strong. Get too close and it will burn your eyes. That said, it stopped roof rats from eating my bird seed at night but didn’t do too much to deter the squirrels. I’d buy it again because the rats w were truly awful and I haven’t seen them on my bird feeder camera since I started using this.

This stuff works and it goes a long way. Squirrels are terribly disappointed with the disgusting hot taste. I’m planning on spraying our hostas next spring hoping to eliminate the smorgasbord I’ve been providing the deer and rabbits.

DOESN’T WORK
RECEIVED ITEM QUICK, AND AS DESCRIBED.BUT DID NOT DETOUR THE SQUIRRELS IN MY AREA FROM EATING THE TREATED BIRDSEED. I EVEN DRIZZLED A LITTLE ON TOP OF A PILE OF TREATED SEED, SQUIRRELS STILL ATE IT UP. AND I ADDED MORE THEN SUGGESTED MIXTURE TO THE SEED.

Immediate effect – but squirrels get tolerant
Update: The squirrels appeared to be affected at first. Unfortunately, they get habituated extremely quickly. They come back and scarf up the seeds like they were uncoated. In my experience, it didn’t have the lasting effect I bought this for.—This seemed to have an immediate effect that I couldn’t get by coating the seeds in ghost pepper extract and powdered red cayenne pepper. Both Eastern gray and Douglas squirrels didn’t seem fazed much by my homemade attempts and kept returning for a while, although I believe it did deter them to a degree since I didn’t see then visit much after a week or so.When I received this product, I treated a batch of seeds and waited. A Douglas squirrel came up and started in. It tried one seed, looked confused and wiped its face, then went to ther other side and tried a second seed. Rght after that, it ran off and left. Birds seem unaffected.Product is expensive–equal to the price of a 40lb bag of black oil sunflower for me–but it does seem to work. So I’m not sure I will save any money overall, but I’m encouraged that I’ll just see birds at the feeder going forward, not squirrels!
