I Can See My Baby Again!
I love this thing! And so does my little slider Charlie! I got so tired of constantly having to purchase more replacements for my last filter, I decided to try this route.Itâs virtually noiseless! Iâm not having to clean the tank as often. Before, I was replacing the water every 3-4 weeks. Now, I can go about 5-6 weeks, and even when I clean the tank, the water isnât as dirty and doesnât have that God awful stank to it!Charlie loves the bubbles from the air hose! Heâs constantly swimming against the bubbles and slapping his little arms in the water! I do have my husband take it out and rinse it (to get the pellets that are stuck to the side) about 1-2 times a week. Itâs so easy!I donât ever see myself going back to the old style filters! This makes the water so much clearer than the other ones ever did! Highly recommend going this route for whatever water pet you may have!

Only worked well for about a month.
Worked for about a month. I need to clean it 1-2 times a week and even then it doesnât filter out much. Disappointed because it worked very well at first. Being used for a cold plunge so there isnât much to filter but it still doesnât work well.

Works Well but Flow Too Powerful
It works well but like other reviews said, the flow is way too powerful for any tank. If there was a diffuser it came with or you could buy to lessen that flow, it would be fine but without that, this just isnât practical for any size tank. But the UV filtration seems to work well. I had a bacterial infection in my 75 that has seemed to stop killing fish now that Iâve added this sterilizer. I just adding tubing to the flow output to redirect that flow a bit so now it blows my gravel around instead of the fish. Not attractive or ideal but since it has solved the illness in my tank I am putting up with it.

Incredible product! This crystal cleaned my 30 gallon tank in 24 hours! I removed it, washed it out, and put in directly in my second tank for 24 hours. Iâm happy, my fish are happy!

Great filter with lots of power
Bought this for my sons outside tank for minnows craw dads and small turtles and it keeps the tank crystal clear for weeks. Will have to clean filter once every couple of weeks depending on whatâs in tank

I bought this to clear the extreme algae problem that had developed in my wifeâs 45-gallon goldfish pond this summer. Goldfish are relatively messy fish and although there are only two of them, one has gotten quite large and now 45-gallons may be getting a little too small. It is the ammonia produced by these fish that provides a rich environment for algae growth. I had tried a chemical solution which helped during cooler and darker times of the year, but I was reluctant to keep adding more to fix the problem. Enter this productâ¦Iâll say that the algae responded pretty quickly to the addition of this filter. It knocked down the worst of the stringy goo, but the fine foam filter clogged quickly in that environment. Cleaning was not especially easy. First you have to pry off the plastic cap, then pull out the sodden sponge. I found it easiest to pull out the bulb and the plastic divider, then the sponge. The thing feels a little cobbled together, with insulated wires to the bulb being exposed. The pump is strong and quiet, but like all of these types of pumps, the air hose only creates enough suction to pull in air when the pump output is near the surface. Whether it was from jostling from the cleaning, or simply burning out, the bulb quit within three weeks, which definitely affects my overall opinion of the unit.My hunch is that in a tank thatâs already fairly clear, it would do a good job of keeping it algae-free, but in my case, it quit before the job was done. In the end, I made a bio bucket filter with a high volume pump and K1 media. It is much, much more effective and is likely to be durable.
