Like many people who live in Florida, we always enjoyed the different varieties of birds here. But it wasnât until we decided to get a bird feeder that we really appreciated the incredible diversity. We are now officially bird nerds! Here are the products that have made it happen: We started with the GrayBunny GB-6817D Double Shepherd Hook 65 Inch Heavy Duty 1/2 Inch Thick Rust Resistant Steel With Two Twin Hooks, Hang Planters Bird Feeders Mason Jars Lanterns Plant Baskets Solar Lights & Weddings which is an excellent product, but unfortunately didnât extend high enough to go above bushes outside our lanai (we installed it so we could see the birding action from our dinner table). We replaced that with the Erva Adjustable Double Shepherd Hook, Black, 4′ 6″ to 7’H that has an adjustable arm that goes up to 86â high and is now perfect. For the feed, we chose Cole’s Wild Bird Products BR10 Blue Ribbon Blend, 10 Pounds based on reviews. Does it work? So far, our feeder has attracted woodpeckers, blue jays, brown thrashers, grackles, wrens, titmice, cardinals, mourning doves, finches and wild parrots! We had to print out a bird identification sheet to recognize them all. We also bought the Gosky 10×42 Binoculars for Adults, Compact HD Professional Binoculars for Bird Watching Travel Stargazing Hunting Concerts Sports-BAK4 Prism FMC Lens-With Phone Mount Strap Carrying Bag and they are amazing. Their built in adapter for smartphones will be useful for bird closeups as well as trips. Pick up a âbird nerdâ t-shirt and youâre officially in the club.

Best birdseed by far. Birds love it but be ready to refill your feeder every few days not to mention pay for the additional seed as a result of the feeding frenzy.

Good seed but high percentage of shelled black sunflower seeds which empty shells end up all over ground and requires constant cleaning. We use a yard blower daily to clean area since we have 3-4 feeders. LOL.Next purchase we are going with shelled sunflower seeds.If you don’t mind the empty shells then the birds love the seeds. We attracted 2 or 3 breeds of finch and doves within days and now we have a dozen birds hitting the feeders. We also bought the window feeder from Amazon with 3 suction cups. Fun feeder for seeing the birds up close.

I started buying this brand at Whole Foods, then through Amazon. Iâm in Central Texas so I have several birds that love this seed mix. Cardinals, titmouse, house finch, chickadee, and I add some Niger seed for the lesser goldfinches. I usually have quite a few. They all seem to love this as theyâll finish a full bird feeder in 24/36 hours!

Iâve been buying this seed mix for years and birds love it. Itâs definitely a higher priced seed mix but itâs worth it for attracting birds and it has very little waste.
