    A Big Help
For whatever reason, I have a lot of anxiety surrounding cleaning and organizing, and am very self-conscious about whether I’ve cleaned something “correctly” or well enough. I’ve completed the introduction and have moved to the second part of the journal, and have been having a lot of success this past week getting my home in order. I saw the bottom of my sink yesterday for the first time in weeks.I still have a ways to go (I’m not even halfway through the journal), but the guided cleaning exercises I’ve done so far have been a big help in getting over the anxiety/nerves/fear and just getting started. The prep and planning it has me doing for the long term also makes the future seem manageable, which has me optimistic that I won’t live in mess and disorder forever. 😊

It’s like your friend is helping you out
Look, I wasn’t taught how to do anything. My mom had to work, and she was too tired to teach us, she’d rather just do it. So yeah, I need someone to show me or tell me what to do. Because I’m over 40 years old and didn’t realize that cleaning doorknobs is something you need to do. This journal is like a step by step guide with my Take No BS best friend. I’m glad it’s here!

    Rachel Rocks!
I’ve been a fan of unfuckyourhabitat since it was a tiny little blog in the tiny world of Tumblr. Rachel Hoffman has done a brilliant job of creating a book and a journal and website that is accessible to people who don’t live typical lives… People with disabilities, roommates, in dorms, who have mental illnesses or chronic illnesses. She has options for all of this, making cleaning and decluttering not seem so overwhelming.

This very well may save my marriage
My wife and I have very different approaches to cleaning in form, function and definition. This book got us on the same page (haha!)1/25th the cost of marriage counseling, at least twice as effective.

Very useful for your just not feeling it.
I haven’t really finished this book yet, but the parts I have are very inspiring. I’m definitely going to use this as a resource for when I’m not feeling like cleaning.

I have no recollection of this purchase
As the title reads, I don’t have any idea when I got this book, and to be honest, I still haven’t read more than just scanning a couple of pages well over a year ago, give or take. With that said, the title alone deserves the 5 star rating I gave. I know myself well enough to know that as long as I don’t forget about it on my Kindle, I will get through it and hopefully my stupid self will learn something beneficial.

Pretty great simplification of processes, with a digestible narrative. No sense of shame or shaming, and shares lots of validations of peoples’ differing realities. Lovely read and a fantastic therapeutic resource.
