If installed correctly, spins freely and perfectly.
The spinner is made of real solid wood and is shaped like a mostly flattened flower. It comes with 1 long bolt for a central mounting peg, much like a machinery gear has. There are also 2 large, thin, plastic washer-like disks, plus a screw-on spacer, and a screw-on nut to hold the setup all in place once it’s been installed. All these pieces are very well crafted. I see no noticeable flaws or safety risks at all.Once installed correctly, the wooden spinner piece does spin freely without much effort, with the potential to spin very fast quite easily. However, it must be correctly installed to achieve this, which is surprisingly tricky for people such as myself, who aren’t used to personally installing gear-like items such as this one. Installing a spinner cage toy was a new experience for me, and I couldn’t find clear instructions on the correct order of placement for the spacer and washers. So it did take me a couple extra minutes of trial and error, but the installation mission was successful without trouble otherwise. Most new experience installers of this type of item will likely not have much trouble installing it, if at all. Someone with even the slightest experience with gear-like spinners would likely have no issues installing this at all.I got this toy for my guinea pig cage. Upon seeing it for the first time, and me spinning it to show them how it works, they became very curious about it and excited. They began stretching thier heads toward it for better views and smells while squeeking the investigative “what is that?” type of curiosity squeeks that guinea pigs are known for. Upon closer inspection, they became more excited and began “popcorning”, which is a common behavior of guinea pigs when they are excited or happy or playing and having fun. I think it’s safe to say that they are happy with this toy.5 out of 5 stars.
