What a find!
I have chickens. I have a lot of chickens. Okay.. I have lots and lots of chickens.However when we built the coop for them, in order to use and benefit from thermal mass, we used sand as the flooring on top of the solid floor. Which means this tool is perfect for this!Cons: can’t think of anyPros: easy assembly, ease of use, effective, practical, essential and affordableThis practical tool is easy to assemble and easy to use. If you have chickens, you know what chickens do. And you know that chickens do that all day and all night. And coming into the winter months they don’t spread out a lot to spread their mess a lot. So with it coop needing to be cleaned on a very frequent basis this makes it super easy to pick up the solids and leave the clean sand for future bedding. If you do mix bedding, this will pick that up too. If you want to use this tool I would definitely recommend sticking with straight sand or another substrate that will flow right through.My chickens will be the happiest cluckers on the block.

Yard scooper
Any chicken tender out there knows that hay/sand/litter etc and chicken feces is heavy. This pole is made out of silver coated plastic. No metal. The plastic handle that comes with it to attach does not attach well itâs as tight as the bolt and nut will allow and moves all up and down the pole. This came with zero instructions but was not rocket science to figure out. I have three stars because while this is not a good choice for chickens it can be great if you want to scoop up something light from your yard like trimmings or dog feces etc

Sturdy Scooper
Much stronger and heavier than I expected. The handle is hollow but the scoop is solid metal with a coating – itâs seems similar to whatâs on non-stick pans. The side handle is adjustable for height on the pole and also rotates around it. ð§ The holes in the scoop are large enough for sand and small pebbles to go through but chicken, dog and cat poop ð© plus larger rocks, sticks and straw can be removed. The pole handle has a hole at the top to hang it from a hook but itâs a little wider than most broom handles and doesnât fit in the grasping clamps I have for some of my other tools.(There werenât any instructions for assembly but it was pretty quick to put together using common sense, even for a mechanical misfit like myself)
