Serves the purpose
I found this set of three different sized roosting perches for baby chicks to be very easy to assemble. There are predrilled holes and they are counter-sunk on the end pieces so that the heads of the screws do not protrude.Usually, I find that there are a couple of extra screws sent with a product that requires the buyer to assemble it. I didn’t get any extra screws (I did not need them), but curiously I received two additional roost bars.I find the finish on the bars to be a bit too smooth for baby chicks. I will scuff mine up with a piece of sand paper.One end of the largest roosts arrived cracked, or cracked when I was assembling it. I didn’t notice it immediately. There are enough bars connecting the two end pieces that the break in the wood won’t matter.Roosts this size are truly only useful for a few weeks, until the chicks get too big (and, they grow FAST.) But, while they are babes, and confined to a brooder for proper temperature but not much in the way of interesting things to do, it’s nice to offer them a little something to do. These roosts should help develop coordination and allow the chicks to get off the ground for a bit.I have fifteen day old chicks arriving next week. They will join my 10 older hens. I’m excited to receive them and to install these little roosts into their brooder.

Sturdy and durable
Instructions are clear and easy to follow, item was easy and quick to put together. Perfect size for our chickens and they love it! Very durable and strong material that it should last forever and is sturdy.

Chickies were not a fan
Overall, I did not find this to be a good perch for chicks. The dowels are pre-drilled and that made them easy enough to put together but are far too narrow for chicks to comfortably roost or perch. It also took some effort and twisting to get them to rest level after putting them together.

Okay but a bit rough
It was fine for our chickens, the wood was a tad rough even though it was sanded and stained already and there was no instructions. Because of the lack of instructions we tried for too long thinking that the dowels should fit in the counterbored holes, instead the screws are supposed to go in the holes and the dowels on the other side. I’d give it a 4/5 if they countersunk the screw side instead of counterbored them.

Best for Chicks
These perches are good enrichment for chicks or smaller chickens.They are easy to assemble, despite the lack of instructions. The dowels are placed on the flat side, and the screws counter-sink into the holes on the other side.A small screwdriver is included, but I found it easier to use a larger tool.These are great for chicks to learn roosting and develop a pecking order.

â NICE ASSORTMENT, NICE QUALITY MATERIAL, EASY ASSEMBLY
Just this past month, my father recieved a pair of baby budgies (parakeets) for his birthday.Not having seen the birds, he purchased a cage for them, and the cage ended up being a little oversized for the actual size of the young budgies. They had their wings groomed to where they cannot fly, as well, so when they would move or hop from perch to perch, they would often times fall to the bottom of the cage.The bottom of the cage has a grated panel, similar to the walls of the cage, so their little feet would fall through the slats in the grates and they would get themselves stuck and struggle to get back up and onto a perch. I needed something that could assist them in not having to walk/hop along the bottom of the cage, and thought these perches would be perfect.â MATERIAL QUALITY: the overall quality of the materials is great. im not exactly sure on what kind of wood was used, but the wood is extremely dense, but is also very lightweight. all the wood has been sanded and smoothed. as well as colored with a non-gloss, dark stain. that stain doesn’t rub off and there is no adverse smell to the wood. all the pieces are precision cut and fit together seamlesslyâ overall, awesome quality.â EASY ASSEMBLY: the package does NOT include any instruction, whatsoever, but after looking over everything that is supplied in thekis, it is extremely self explanatory. the right number of screws is supplied, along with the correct number of dowels, including an excess pair in the case that any need to be replaced in any of the stands for any reason. a small screw driver is also included, so you essentially have everything you need. assembling all 3 perches can be a little tedious and time consuming. but they all turn out great.â GREAT SIZE ASSOETMENT: this kit comes with three different sizes ranging from a large, multi level perch, to the smallest, single level perch that is no more than maybe and inch or so, high. the assortment is wonderful for different ages and sizes of birds and makes these stands hugely accessible for all big variety of birds, as well.Once these are assembled, they are sturdy and balanced just right. They can function for a huge number of purposes, especially with the sizes and heights. I love that you get THREE separate stands for the value, which is much better than paying the same price for a preassembled single stand. This is the best value. I was able to use the large and medium stands inside the cage for the budgies, and pretty much occupy more than 90% of the empty, open floor space. I have seen the budgies use these perches on a number of occasions, especially after having gone down towards the bottom to eat and drink from their food containers. These perches make it so much easier for them to climb back up to their favorite elevated perch, since they enjoy looking out and over the living room in front of their cage. The Good:Easy to assemble these “roosting” bars.Seem very stable for Chicks.Pretty stylish.The Bad:we raise chicks, so these will be useful. these are small enough to fit in a brooder box. We first thought they would be good in the chicken coop, but WAY to small for any chicken over 5 weeks old.The Ugly:Nothing ugly to mention.
