Perfect for brooder
Perfect for chicken brooder – no more red glow! Only downside is you canât tell itâs burnt out like a light until the chicks alert you.

It works, one was bad out of the box
In a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure this emitter provides a hot spot of 90 degrees which is exactly what I needed (74 degree ambient temp/ emitter installed in black dome). Unfortunately only one of the two emitters works consistently, the other turns on and off. I will likely have to buy more as I can’t have an unreliable heat source.

Nice heaters at a good price
Arrived individually boxed within another sturdy box. The bulbs were both in good shape and worked. Each box is clearly marked for the wattage and printed on the bulb itself in bright gold print, which I appreciate as I have some fixtures that can’t handle wattage this high, so I need to be able to keep it separate. The box that each bulb is packaged in includes a model number (KT9210) and some helpful information including warnings and suggested usage as well as a chart with estimated temperatures and a given distance; also greatly appreciated. Although I would encourage everyone to use an infrared thermometer to verify safe temperatures. In multiple spots it recommends using a thermostat – this is advice that I’ve come to appreciate. In the past I’ve tried to use rheostats (a dimmer switch) to provide a lower constant heat, but those have consistently been unreliable for maintaining a good temperature range. They can still be useful to prevent a heat pad or a heat bulb like this from putting out full heat while it is turned on, but you still need it to cut off automatically if it gets too hot. The seasonal and even day/night temperature differences in the house can throw off the dimmer style, so a thermostat is really the only way to go. They are about the same price these days, so there’s really no reason not to use them. These definitely put out a lot of heat. They’ll be nice to have for the winter. For now they aren’t kicking on very often, but when they do, they work.
