Great scratching post!
We’ve had this scratching post for a few days now and the cats love it! Both of them are using it more than they’ve used the other posts we’ve gotten (both vertical and horizontal). It’s nice and tall so they can stretch when they scratch and they like climbing up it and sitting on the top. It’s also larger around than what I was expecting and I think they like that also. The carpet is good quality as well.It’s difficult to find a good quality carpet scratching post, so many of them are made out of the twine and my cats don’t like the texture of that. Most of them are also short and while they get used my cats weren’t using them anything like how they’re using this one. I added a string at the top before screwing on the last piece and attached one of those worm toys to it and they enjoy not only scratching but playing on the post too. The post is pretty sturdy so it holds up well for their usual play and has only been knocked over during one of their “purr-core” (zoomies) craziness. They also like just sitting on top since it’s at a good height for them to see over the couch to look out the window and attempt to play with the ceiling fan pull strings.One thing I will say is that the screw for the top was too long so we moved the disc that was sandwiched between the two sections up to the top and that pretty much took care of the screw sticking up out of the top section. Other than that one bit, which was easily solvable, putting the post together was a breeze and the instructions clearly depicted what to do. Highly recommend getting this product!

One of the best scratching posts ever!
Edit Sept 2, 2024: One year later this post is starting to show wear and a lot of fuzzies. Please do not take this as a complaint because this post has lasted 9 months longer than any post I have EVER bought for my cat. The top ball on the string my cat pulled off months ago but the one on the spring remains. The post itself is still incredible strong and shows no sign of decay. Only thing that is failing is the carpet around it due to one year of daily abuse and scratching from my cat. This is an absolute win in my book. So it has come time to order a new one and guess what I am choosing? That’s right, this one! In fact I am gonna get two just in case this one becomes unavailable.Original review:It is so hard to find carpet scratching posts now-a-days. Sissle rope seams to be all the rage. Well my cat is picky and likes carpet. I knew how tall this was gonna be but was surprised by the diameter. Holy cow this thing was huge! But it was also a HUGE hit with the picky cat. Its wide enough she can easily get her paws comfortably on it and its tall enough that she can stretch and scratch where she wants. She also loves to climb it and sit atop of it and survey her kingdom! I’ve had it 5 months now it has lasted so far! This has been great and well received by a picky cat!

The best for carpet scratching kitties
My cat doesnât like the usual scratching posts she only likes to scratch carpet. I bought her a normal post and she never touched it. I found her one that is rough carpet and she never touched that either. She likes the material that shreds apart (like one specific basket I had) so I scoured the internet for something exactly like this! She immediately scratched at it and has now torn the whole thing to shreds so I just ordered another!! This saved my carpet from being ripped up:) I also love that itâs sturdy, has never tipped over even though she has jumped on it several times, and you can unscrew it and rotate the pieces so you can really use the whole thing. She likes to scratch the middle so once it was thoroughly ruined, I took it apart, flipped the top and it was like it was brand new! It lasted me several months. Anyway 10/10 if your cat likes to scratch carpet and not the typical scratching posts:)

good but a bit of a wobble
Why did you pick this product vs others?:my cats love this!!! i have a very big mainecoon and he loves to climb it to get treats i put on the top of the pole. itâs amazing. the only thing is that it could be more sturdy in my opinion. cause he does wobble around a lot, but he got used to it. he loves it so much itâs worth it.Â

Softer material for cats who donât like sisal!!!!!
My cats LOVE this post. I seriously struggled to find a material that wasnât sisal, my cats arenât crazy about it because itâs too hard. This soft carpet material they love to sink their claws into. I put it right near my upholstered dining room chairs and they havenât touched them since. Itâs decently tall so they climb up it when theyâre acting crazy. Itâs not super heavy so it does tip a little but only when theyâre trying to climb is aggressively. They lay on the base too because they love it so much! Great purchase, decently easy to put together also.

Large Maine Coon loves it
Was easy to put together but I suggest making two modifications: 1) use the longer 4â threaded pipe in the middle and the shorter 3â one at the top to give it more stability (the direction state the opposite), 2) put padded felt tabs on the bottom because the bolt and washer are not inset into the base and it looks like itâs a prime setup for scratching my wood floor without them.My 15 lb Maine Coon started scratching on it even before it was put together. He is not a fan of sisal rope so I am happy this is carpeted. He is also long so the height of this allows him to get a good stretch. The base isnât particular heavy but it seems to be big enough to kee the post upright. He has some vigorous scratch sessions and itâs holding up well. I didnât bother attaching the little toys that come with it but there is one he likes to play with on its own so that was a bonus.Edit: one year later. My cat continues to love this. The carpet on the bottom part remained perfect but the top part split and definitely showed wear after one year. He is long so the top part gets the workout. We just replaced the carpet and it was good to go.This is tall and sturdy enough for him to climb on and hang from for a while. He also runs and jumps on it and it does not fall over with his weight.Iâm increasing my original rating of 4 stars to 5 because I want a scratch for another room and at this price it just makes sense to buy this again.
