ReviewsByMuseThis scratching post is really cute, but there are some things I do not like about it. I will start with what I do like first. The height is perfect for most adult cats and kittens. I love the ball track at the bottom. The balls are not the nice wood kind, so they are a little more cheap feeling. The balls are already in the track when it comes and there are no ways to replace balls if they become damaged or lost. I like that it includes a rubber fur scratcher – one of my cats likes these (the other two don’t bother with them). The palm leaves are easy to install and fluff out.Now onto the things I do not like -I do not like the curly cue palm pieces that are included because I see these as a safety problem for chewy cats ingesting them. They are much easier to bite off. The base does not sit flat on the floor, even with the rubber pads that are pre-installed onto the bottom. It’s because the screw that holds the post to the base is taller than the pads, so it rocks back and forth on the head of the screw. Lastly, and most importantly I believe that the small wooden dowels with the hanging toys is abysmal. These present a huge safety issue for ingestion or getting wrapped up in (they are elastic strings). The dowels are also prone to break and they are a pain to get into the holes in the top. These should not even be included on this product.

Base can’t sit flat on hardwood or tile floor because of design flaw with center screw
This interactive cat scratcher tree/toy only takes about 10 minutes to assemble, despite all of the pieces that you see in the first picture. The only interest that either of my cats has shown in this is when it was still in pieces on the floor (see last picture), but I will end up giving it to a friend with two kittens who will pretty much play with anything. I’m sure they will enjoy it, but they would be just as happy playing with a small ball of yarn or a nice cardboard box.While this is heavy and much of it is wood, which is good, there are a couple of design flaws–the most serious being the base. There are four rubber pads under the corners of the base, but they don’t actually do anything because the screw used to attach the first part of the pole to the base has a head that sticks up higher than the thickness of the rubber pads. The makers of this product needed to either create a recess in the bottom of the wooden base for the screw head to rest in, so it wasn’t sticking up, or use a screw with a much flatter head. On my hardwood floor, this cat scratcher tree doesn’t sit flat because of the screw head in the center, and it rattles when weight is placed down on the base. This is a serious enough flaw for the product to lose a full star.The other design flaw is less significant, but the holes drilled into the top for inserting the four wooden poles that toys hang from aren’t large enough for you to push the poles in securely by hand. I needed the help of a few hammer taps so the poles wouldn’t be loose enough to fall off the tree when played with. Maybe someone stronger won’t have the same problem, but (the instructions aren’t a step-by-step but rather a single diagram of where the various pieces are meant to be), you want to put the plastic leaves thing through the top hole before inserting the wooden toy poles, because those poles can block the center hole that the plant leaves go into.Final Verdict: This is easy enough to assemble (although you may need to use a hammer for a few taps to get the hanging toy poles firmly in place) and is heavy wood but the fact that the screw in the center prevents the base from being able to sit flat is an annoying design flaw–especially if this is sitting on a hard surface instead of carpeting. You may want to add your own adhesive rubber legs, which are easy enough to find on Amazon or in a hardware store, unless you don’t mind the rattling noise from the base. But keep in mind that if your cat(s) play with this vigorously enough, a metal screw head sticking out in the center of the base could scratch or nick your flooring. That makes this product impossible for me to recommend.

Cat wins, human struggles
As far as cute goesâ5 stars. For cat interestâ10 stars! I literally emptied the box and my cat didnât stop playing with it until well after it was built, installed, and in its final home. Thatâs a win in my book.Aesthetics: 5 stars. I am so tired of carpeted towers that just add more beige fuzz to a room and track carpet litter everywhere. This design is cleaner, more modern, and doesnât scream âcat furniture.âInstructions & Assembly: 1 star. The included guide is more of a schematic than true instructions. Unfortunately, the first section (B) didnât fit the second bolt, so I had to modify the setup and flip the orderâplacing the top tube (C) at the bottom instead. It still worked, but itâs not exactly plug-and-play. Also, the wooden pegs need a little extra coaxing. I suggest a mallet and maybe a small spacer to avoid splitting them. If youâre someone who really depends on straightforward instructions, youâll find this part frustrating.Overall: A hit with my cat, a stylish upgrade for the room, but a patience test for the builder.

A scratch post paradise.
This scratch post for cats and kittens is like a jungle tree in paradise for your fur pets to play and get their energy out. The base has tracks for little balls to fit in and get chased around. There is a green attachment with bristles that the cats can rub against to remove loose hair or the attachment can be removed to brush your cat. There it a fun spring toy at the base and toys that hang down from the top of the tower. The fluffy green leaves finish it off by giving the scratch post a shaded umbrella or a palm tree look. It is pretty easy to assemble and it is also made sturdy and durable and it is hard to tip over. It is a great quality at a terrific value for what you pay.
