Very Durable, High Quality Sisal Cat Scratching Post
I just received the real sisal cat scratching post by Aberatail and my first impression came from the weight of the box. It was heavy compared to other similar scratching posts I’ve purchased in the past. When I began assembling it, I was impressed by the quality of the construction of it.It’s heavy weighted because the base is made of 1/2″ thick wood as compared to the flimsy balsam wood that others are made of. Sisal is known to be a very durable material, perfect for cat scratching. It takes years to break down, unlike the cardboard cat scratching posts that I usually need to replace twice a year. I have two very mischievous cats, Piper and Lovey, who love to scratch the arm sides of my sofa when they want my attention.This will be a perfect solution to my cat’s needs and will keep my new sofa in good condition. As soon as I opened the box Piper jumped into it so it took me longer to set up than it otherwise should. The directions are simple to read and understand and there are really only 5 basic steps. I learned from setting these up that the best way to do the very durable double sided tape that adheres the sisal to the base is to go slowly and peel as you go. If you try to peel all the double sided tape off at once, it can be difficult to get a good tight fit.This cat scratching post will last many years because of the high quality materials it’s made from. It’ll save me from having to replace the cheaper cardboard posts twice a year as well. There’s hardly any clean up with sisal either, unlike the cardboard pieces I find all over the house. I’m very pleased with my purchase of scratch post and my two cats are already enjoying it. It’s durable, heavy weighted and high quality and I definitely recommend it especially if you have indoor cats that get into everything!

Good Quality, Challenging Assembly
This Vertical Sisal Cat Scratching Post is a winner with my cats, which is the ultimate seal of approval! The good quality and durable sisal material make it a reliable choice that looks like it will last. The 105° scratch pad angle is clearly comfortable for the adult cats, and when I set it against the wall, it works well without tipping over, even during serious scratching sessions. This is a huge relief, especially for those worried about stability. The best part is that the cats like it, which means they are leaving my furniture alone!However, setting it up was not a quick task. It was difficult to put together, so be prepared to spend some extra time and effort on the assembly instructions. Once it’s built, though, the quality pays off and the post is very sturdy.

Great, space saving scratch post!
I found this very easy to set up. I really like that the L-shaped design takes up less space compared to other scratch posts Iâve used before. My old post used refillable cardboard, which always made a mess with bits of ripped cardboard everywhere and needed constant refills. This one uses a permanent scratching surface, so I donât have to deal with the mess or the extra cost. It looks nice, feels sturdy, and has worked great for keeping my catâs claws off the furniture! I highly recommend it.

Wasnât expecting that much assembly
The quality of this product depends highly on your ability to properly put this together. There are surprisingly more pieces and assembly than I was expecting based on what the pictures showed and described. It says put together in 5 minutes – this took me 30 minutes. The sisal scratching fabric comes totally separate and has strong sticky backing lining it for assembly. You need to make sure the sisal is taught across the boards otherwise youâre going to end up with wrinkles or loose sisal. What I did and I recommend for others is to take the backing off in sections as you go. Donât take it all off at once because youâll end up having to unstick and restock it a few times. Start with the sticker that goes into the âLâ crease and then work your way out from there the last thing youâll do is give it a strong tug on each end before setting the final sticky tape over the ends. The wooden part of the scratcher is nice quality and I appreciate the included screwdriver. I donât love that the sisal is separate and that quality mileage will vary depending on the buyer/installerâs capability. If you donât mind a craft project this could be enjoyable for your cats. My cat seems to like it ok but Iâm left with a bad taste over the lack of transparency about how much setup is involved. I think the price point could be a bit lower for that.

Aberatail Cat Scratcher with sissel
I’m always looking for different types of cat scratchers I figure if I have them all over the place there’s no excuse for my furniture to be used to scratch so I have one that has these claws from hell and he would rip my my leather furniture up in no time at all so having the sisal which I think I like better than the cardboard the cardboard falls apart too quickly and easily sometimes there’s some heavy duty ones which I really really like but this one right here is the sissel and it’s fantastic I find that my baby’s like to just actually rest on top of the little ledge on the bottom and they’ll scratch on the top side.This will provide many hours of scratching time.

heavy duty, good quality, needs to off-gas
This is an incredibly sturdy piece of cat furniture, for certain. A few things to note:- Some cats may not be acclimated to a Sisal scratcher if they’re used to cardboard, and may take longer to warm up to it (this is the case with my cat).- the sisal material has a smell / the overall package does need some time to off-gas. this might also prevent a cat from warming up quickly to it- assembly wasn’t difficult, however some of the pre-drilled holes were a bit small and screwing everything in requires a little elbow-grease. I’m a small woman and was able to do it comfortably, but I’m able-bodied/athletic so something to keep in mind if you have joint issues etc, it isn’t complex, but it does take a little muscling.- i LOVE how heavy it is, it feels like a quality piece that will last awhile, even if my cat doesn’t scratch a lot on it (he likes to lay on it for now).
