Customers find the fly mask effective at repelling insects and appreciate its lightweight design, perfect fit, and suitability for trail riding. Moreover, the mask allows horses to see well through it, and one customer notes it works great for keeping flies and bugs away from the eyes. However, durability receives mixed feedback – while some say it lasts for months, others report it starts tearing after a short time. Additionally, the velcro durability is also mixed, with some saying it stays on better while others find it comes off too easily.

Great mask for our donkey.
I like this mask, but be warned that you need to teach your equine to accept the velcro sound. I had never bought a fly mask before and bought one for my mini donkey – it took a few tries to get him comfortable with that ripping sound. It has stood up reasonable well and my donkey can see out of it easily. He leaves it on all day and we remove it at nice. It is decent quality – there is one little rip – but my donkey rubs his head on stuff a lot, so I don’t think it is the mask’s issue. He only has the one rip.

Excellent fly mask
I use these on my two girls during the days and haven’t tried it while riding. My mule does very well with it, she rolls and gets it muddy, dunks her face in the water tub and rubs her face on the scratching post and it holds up very well. The felt on the edges keeps them soft against their faces, so no rub sores or tender spots and they fit very well. They’re sheer enough that you can see their eyes. I got these last year and they’re still like new. Just ordered another one for another horse, well worth the money.

Perfect to protect my mare’s eye from the bright sun.
My horse has an ongoing eye issue and I needed a mask that would block some of the sun from her face. This “fly” mask works great! She wears it all the time and it has held up pretty well. I recently bought a second one so I could wash one, while she is wearing the other. Definitely helps her eye comfort.

Perfect for riding and pasture – doesn’t obstruct vision!!
Before I buy an equine fly mask I hold it over my own eyes to check out the vision through the mesh and seams. You would be surprised at how some masks will actually impair vision with seams and or heavier mesh and even some of the ‘fun’ patterns mess with vision. These Cashel quiet ride fly masks provide great vision so I now not only use them for riding – but for use out in the pasture as I want my equines to have good vision in case a predator (dog or wildlife or?) approaches – or the occasion I get home after dark. Yes – they are light – but they are well made and hold up quite well and maybe because they are so light and comfortable I find it they stay on better – possibly because there is less attempt to scratch and rub it off?

Ok to ride with but not leave on
This is a very lightweight and fragile fly mask. Definitely great to ride in, but do not leave on your horse. It is very fragile.

I thought they would be fine for the pasture and everyday use
I bought two of these horse fly masks for use in the pasture for my quarter horse. Even though the package says not for use other than with a bridle on the trail, I thought they would be fine for the pasture and everyday use. They are. The mask is roomy for her eyes and the band around all the openings are fitted enough to keep the flies from crawling in, and so far it has stayed on and is lasting. We live in Arizona and its important to have a fly mask but one that’s not too heavy making it too hot. There is an opening between the ears, too, for her fetlock to come through. Much better than being smashed like the others. The mask is lightweight – doesn’t feel cheap but is much lighter in both texture and weight. She’s had it on for a week out in the field and so far, it remains on and intact.

This fly mask is light weight and much easier to see through than a traditional fly mask. I bought it for an older horse whose eye sight is no longer the best and it is working well.
