It works quickly
Calms my 40 lb dog fairly quickly when she panics because some idiot is setting off explosive fireworks. I give her the maximum amount and that takes the edge off her and aves me from getting mauled. Apparently she likes the taste and will take the chews readily.

Works well
I give these to my dogs before car rides or vet appointments. As long as you follow the treats per dog weight they work very well. My dogs love them! Doesnât make them drowsy just calm. Great value for the price. I have tried collars and pills this one is much easier to get the dogs to chill out and eat them easier.

Doesnât work for all dogs
I have 5 dogs. I bought this because one of them gets car sick and 4 of them get anxious when we travel. It works very well on my youngest, sheâs the one who gets car sick, when I gave it to her about 30 minutes later she was asleep. No car sickness. It also calmed down my other Dalmatian, he gets very anxious when traveling and he was asleep about 30 minutes in too. However, my Dutch Shepard did not even want to eat it and when she did it didnât seem to have much effect on her nor did it effect our Corgi, she is very high strung and continued to be even with the chew. I read several reviews before buying it and realized it worked for some and not others so I thought Iâd give it a shot and it seems to hold true that it works for some dogs and not others. My 5th dog, a jack russell, would not eat it and since heâs the oldest, 11, I did not force him.

Usually does the trick
These chews are effective for my dog with mild separation anxiety. When timed well, giving them 30â40 minutes before I leave helps my dog stay calm and prevents whining. They also seem to reduce my dogâs excitement during car rides, resulting in less shuffling and a more relaxed demeanor.

Not effective for calming
They don’t help calm my cat (6 pound mackerel tabby). On several occasions, I’ve given him 2 treats and waited before putting him in his carrier/cage. He still panicked and tried to bite his way out.He likes the flavor so I guess they’re good as regular treats.

This was good, it calmed my cat down, though. She still tends to want to fight everyones in a while with the other one but it has come down considerably. I will buy more.

DID NOT WORK!!
Im pretty disappointed in this product after reading so many good reviews. I have 4 dogs ranging from 3.5 months (pure German Shepard), 4 years (rot/gsd mix), and 10+ years old (Chihuahuas) in age.Idk for sure if it worked on my puppy. She has regular nap times and pretty much fell asleep like usual after taking the recommended amount. Kinda took the edge off but nothing that really made a difference tbh. If anything it gave her the zoomies before nap time lol. She weighs 20-22lbs so maybe because sheâs on the cusp of needing more than one treat it didnât do much but again sheâs a puppy that barely made the age cut off and I didnât wanna risk anything. She was not fazed by fireworks either so I wasnât really worried about that. Mostly wanted them for crate training but wearing her out was more effective than the calming treat.As for the 4 year old, he seemed sleepier than normal but again nothing too effective. He was still pretty anxious overall. We gave him 4 due to his weight and noticed that it worked a little better than the puppy since his weight was closer to the lower side of the range. Idk if that affects anything but there ya go. Heâs also not fazed by the fireworks and is usually pretty mellow but gets worked up when the chihuahuas freak out over the them.Now for the 10 yr old Chihuahuas, it did absolutely NOTHING. Theyâre 8 and 10 lbs so I gave them each 1. They get really anxious with fireworks and were the main reason why I got these. They had NO EFFECT whatsoever!! She was just as anxious after giving her the treat. I waited a good hour maybe hour and a half before fireworks started so there was enough time for the treat to take effect and NOTHING HAPPENED. Didnât affect them in the slightest. Not sleepy or calmer or anything. One of them didnât even want the treat either (sheâs picky tho) so I had to mix it with a treat she does like. Maybe the dog breed has something to do with it since chihuahuas are spawns from hell but idk.The taste: all dogs ate it fine except for my picky eater sooo do with that info what you will.Overall: if you wanna take the edge off then sure waste ur money. Now if youâre looking for something thatâll help with fireworks/really anxious dogs then look elsewhere cuz these were CRAP!!

Really works, Doggie loves it.
Aug 2025 UPDATECalm Down is still the only calming product our doggies will eat. Iâve purchased and tried 4 other brands, just in case, and they turn their faces away, but will still gobble down âCalm Downâ.If I could give more than five stars, I would.We have 2 doggies.One that is very friendly, loves people, and is very well socialized. And has never met a friend/neighbor who he didnât love at first sight.And then we have a second dog. She is terrified of everything, and everybody, and her own shadow. Thunderstorms, lightening, fireworks, Fire crackers etc. Suffice it to say she was a terrified, scared, non-trusting, noise-sensitive girl. It got so bad she would stay only in one of our bathrooms, in the dark.Our vet prescribed some medications that did not work. Probably because she did not like swallowing a pill. Enter Velveeta, cheddar, Swiss and even Baby Bell. No good results. Into the bathroom sheâd run.We felt so bad for her. She was living a ânon-lifeâ.To make an already long review even longer:We Even made from scratch home-made dog food. She rejected that food as well.We were sad and angry and felt so bad for her.Finally Somehow I came across these Calming Chews for Dogs on Amazon. We were already prepared for her rejection of these nuggets. Feeling pretty bad already that she might not want it.But she absolutely loves them!!On the days that she is exhibiting panic behavior we typically give her about 4 nuggets.Boo loves these little nuggets!! At last-something that really does what it says it will do.Great find. Helps the problem before it starts. Evidently great taste!

If your dog is not food motivated, dont bother as these are very hard and not attractive smelling. I managed to cut one up and hide it in food, but was more of an effort than i wanted.
