Heavy Duty, Smooth Action Bucket Lid Mouse Trap
I’m reviwing the FPXVG Bucket Lid Mouse Trap which was priced at $23.99 at the time of purchase. This should be especially helpful to address a rodent issue in our warehouse and for a chipmunk battle at my home. This is a fair price to me; I have purchased a plastic lid for cheaper, but this should last forever. The durable powder coated steel lid was easy to assemble, and the lid mechanism swings smoothly. The smooth coating makes this easy to bait, clean and sanitize. The two-part plastic ladder is lightweight and clips together in the center, but its sturdy enough to bear the weight of mice, rats or chipmunks.I baited this with some peanut butter and bird seed and placed leaves and grass clippings on the bottom of the bucket to reduce stress to the animals. I put it out the same day I received it and this should make relocation a breeze.Assembly note: You’ll need to screw the lid to the bucket. You could leave it floating if you’re only catching mice, but for rats or chipmunks you should secure the lid to the bucket to prevent tipping or escape. The lid comes with a drill bit for your bucket and a handy screwdriver, along with extra screws.

    Good heavy-duty mouse trap kit
I’ve wanted to make one of these mouse traps for a long time, but I’m lazy, so when I saw this offered up on Vine, I decided to give it a try.My first thought upon opening the package was, “Wow, this is pretty heavy duty!”. It’s made primarily from relatively thick steel gauge steel; all except for the “ladder” piece, which is plastic. The kit includes everything needed to attach this trap to a 5-gallon bucket (that you provide), including a drill bit, screws, and the main lid/ladder sections. They even included a screwdriver, but it’s one of those cheap disposable ones that will probably round out or strip your screw heads before you finish the first screw. I used my own tools for installation, and it worked well.I had an old empty drywall mud bucket laying around that I decided to use, and the trap fit well on the open end of the bucket. I opted against pre-drilling holes in the bucket and I just screwed the screws directly through the pre-drilled holes in the metal lid and into the un-drilled plastic bucket. (If you’re using the included screwdriver for assembly, you’ll likely want to pre-drill the holes.) I did the same routine for the ladder piece, and the bucket trap was assembled. One thing to note, when installing the screws on either side of the lid piece, I had to fiddle with the “tightness”, since if I screwed them both in all the way, the hinge mechanism on the lid would bind up, preventing the lid from self-closing once opened. Loosening the screws a bit solved the issue. The plastic ladder is made from (2) pieces that interlock, but the interlocking isn’t very tight and can easily come apart at the half-way point. It’s irritating when picking up the bucket and part of the ladder falls off.If I were doing this again, I don’t think I’d screw the lid to the bucket at all. Having the lid screwed to the bucket makes emptying the bucket more difficult as you need to manipulate the lid with one hand, so that it’s open, while simultaneously dumping the bucket with the other hand. I’d prefer some quick release clips to hold the lid on, or simply just the weight of the lid itself. Also, there’s the one half of the ladder that’s also screwed to the bucket that’s just left dangling in space while you’re trying to remove the mice from the bucket.Overall a good setup that has already caught multiple mice in my garage. I wish the entire assembly (lid and ladder) were easily removable so that clean-up is safer and easier.

Great Mouse Trap — Solid Design Inspired by the Pros
I picked up this bucket lid mouse trap after seeing a similar setup on YouTube from a well-known mouse trapper, and it absolutely lives up to the idea. The metal construction is sturdy – far better than plastic versions. This thing seems to be built to last.It fits a standard 5-gallon bucket perfectly, and the auto-reset design means it can catch mouse after mouse without you having to constantly reset anything. Just set it up and let it do its job.One great thing is the flexibility:If you want to catch them alive, just leave the bucket empty. If you want a lethal setup, add some water and it becomes effective immediately.Setup is simple, a little bait goes a long way, and the trap works just like the ones the YouTube experts demonstrate. If you’re looking for a reliable, repeat-catch trap with a strong design and real versatility, this is a good choice.

    So far, no luck.
The instructions are terrible. The pictures are so small, I thought they were showing parts that weren’t included. Also, nothing is labeled on the instructions, so I basically guessed my way through putting everything together. It seems to look right and everything is holding together? 🤷🏻‍♀️I have mice and rats, but rats are by far the biggest issue. Unfortunately, they are also incredibly intelligent. The adult rats are experts at avoiding kill traps, so I hoped this would catch them.I have it placed in a heavily trafficked area (based on the evidence they leave behind), baited with peanut butter and dry cat food. Day 4, so far no luck.If I manage to catch anything, I’ll come back and update my rating.

    Good mouse trap
This is a mouse trap system that fits on top of a 5 gallon bucket (bucket not included). It has a little plastic stairway for the mice to climb up on top of the bucket. Then the mice walk across the lid to the bait, but the lid flips up and drops the mice into the bucket, where they are trapped. The lid/trap is made of thin but sturdy metal, and there are pre-drilled holes to secure the lid to the bucket, and screws are included for that purpose. The stairway is also secured with included screws. The description indicates that this is an upgraded design, and there is an added guard to the far end of the trap that prevents the mice from grabbing onto the edge of the bucket and escaping. It’s a good upgrade. These bucket traps work very well. This one is going in the barn where we have a large mouse problem. The kit also comes with a screwdriver and a drill bit to drill holes in the bucket.
