Great for making decoy lines
The right tool for the job. Our duck club purchased new decoys this year and each decoy needed decoy lines. I used these crimpers with 2mm aluminum oval crimps, and 300# mono that ranged in size from 1.6-1.9mm and the crimpers performed flawlessly. I have used these over 200 times and not had any issues with slippage despite the various mono diameters. I have even used these on 1/16″ coated wire rope and 2.5mm aluminum oval sleeves and had similar results. The only drawback is if you mash the crimp too much you get a somewhat sharp flat from the displaced material. You can rotate the crimp 90 degrees and lightly mash this displaced material down, with out compromising the original crimp. This tool is easy to use, and makes professional looking connections. This is a good value for the right tool for the job.

As I’m looking to get more seriously into fishing this season, I decided to pick up this Booms Fishing Crimping Tool Kit to make sure I have all the necessary equipment. While the tool itself is very high quality, its large size is a significant factor to consider before you buy.What I Liked:High-Quality, Solid Build: The first thing I noticed is that this is a very high-quality tool. It feels solid and well-built, very much like the professional-grade crimpers I’ve used in my IT job. I’m confident it will last a long time.Lots of Starter Sleeves: The kit comes with 140 double barrel sleeves, which is a fantastic starter set that provides a lot of value right out of the box.Professional Feel: It has the heft and construction of a serious piece of equipment.What I Didn’t Like:Very Large Size: My main issue is with the size. Fishing crimpers
Decent pair of fishing crimpers. Mechanically, they work fine and have nicely aligned jaws at their mating surfaces. The handles are economic and appropriately sized for large hands, but I would not want to be using them all day long. Works great for occasional/intermittent use. The only flaw I see is the design of the locking mechanism for stowing them. It is difficult to get it in the right position to lock the handles in place and nearly impossible to do with one hand – not a dealbreaker, just a minor flaw in the design. Easy to use to make a good crimp. Good value and durable enough to hold up for the occasional use that they will endure.
