The birds LOVE it – squirrels DON”T

Birds love it. Squirrels hate it.
Feeding the birds attracts squirrels and we had up to six squirrels filling their bellies throughout the day. Now, most days we have one to none.We are saving money even though the pepper ones are pricey.

Yes, squirrels are not interested, but neither are birds. Don’t waste your money.
Yes, the squirrels are not interested in these cakes, but neither are the birds. After more than a week with two of these in a double suet feeder, I saw two birds land on it a few times over about a 5 minute period. They left without eating, and never returned. One tiny bird was pecking at it a little bit one day and also never returned. The fact that there are no exposed seeds and it’s just a blob offers nothing for the birds to peck at. Now I still have about 8 packs left. Waste of money.

It melts in S.C.! And everything does even Me!
Definitely needs work on the No Melt and yes my hands were greasy when thru. Temps in S.C. low country run in the 90’s for days and weeks, this was the 1st one when received, next will better as they are in an air conditioned house. Also needs work on the hot pepper as you can see my squirrels love it! One actually camped out under it. So far the squirrels keep the birds away so can’t tell you if the birds like it. Am disappointed as had hoped this would solve the rodent problem and have other suet blocks that did not melt as easily. I had to add to this review and give them another star as I was way too overheated the day I wrote the first part of this. Am sure the rest of the suet blocks will be easier to place in a cage as they are out of the sun and much more solid, the first one was out of a hot truck, sat on my porch in the sun an hour and then immediately opened and shoved in the cage. My BAD, not Blue Seal’s fault. Plus I sorted out the squirrel’s, I thought several were noshing on the suet, turned out it was just one with a taste for spice. I have over a dozen bo-garting the bird feeder and they don’t wear name tags so that took a bit to sort out. Will keep an eye on the feed and do think this is a good value and will likely order more as I need them.

Solved my problem with racoons
The racoons regularly carried away my whole suet feeder regardless of how well I secured it. I found a recommendation for this hot pepper suet and it totally solved the problem. The squirrels and racoons don’t touch it, but the birds go through a bar in about three days. I saw reviews that the birds would not touch it but that has not been my experience in northern Ohio. Woodpeckers especially love it but many other species as well.

Messy as all get out
Itâs soft real soft hard to put it in the feeder without it breaking up. Birds are fine with it but itâs really messy.

Not So Hot
I have purchased this brand for two years. Increasingly, over the past four months, squirrels have returned. They have used the feeder cage for a swing and have learned how to open it. This brand attracts various birds, but the sqs eat it as fast as I put it out. I am now trying a different brand, but it sadly is not on sub&save

Keeps the squirrels away
I hang the suet on a tree outside my window. Prior to using these hot cakes, the squirrels would quickly devour the suet, leaving none for the birds and causing me to hang numerous cakes a day ($$). Because birds have no taste buds they are not bothered by the heat. However, once the squirrel gets a hot tongue, he won’t come back for more. Note, I’m not worried about the squirrels going hungry over the winter as I have a large acorn tree in my yard from which the squirrels have been hoarding since the temperatures began to drop. Thanks for the great product!
