Excellent Camera Feeder
First let me say that this bird feeder works well, is easy to set up and does a good job identifying birds. The AI based data base is free for 30 days and then you have to pay a yearly subscription cost but it’s worth it. As others have mentioned the camera sends videos to your phone and keeps a running count of how many times the particular species has visited the feeder. So far it has only mis-identified one bird labeling a grosbeak as a stellar jay. Anyway, I’m very happy with the cameraHowever, no fault of Birdsnap, but the feeder also will attract squirrels. I made the initial mistake of mounting the camera on a tree and the squirrels found it within the hour. The feeder does have an alarm you can trigger from your phone and initially it scared the squirrels away but they quickly learned that it couldn’t hurt them and they ignored it. I got plenty of pictures of squirrel butts as they chowed down. I even tried the hot pepper laced seed that is supposed to dissuade them but they happily ate that too. They also chewed through the cable that attaches the solar panel to the camera and the battery finally ran down.Not wanting to give up on the bird feeder I removed it from the tree. I purchased six-foot high pole that has a mounting platform on the top and side. Squirrels are only supposed to be able to jump around five feet thus the need for a tall pole. I had to attach two pieces of wood to the top platform so I could mount the feeder on top and the solar panel on the side. I was able to repair the solar panel by stripping the wires and reattaching them (though the wires are thin but it worked.) Finally I purchased and mounted a squirrel baffle and placed the whole thing in the middle of my back yard away from any trees that the squirrels could jump from. It worked. The squirrels can climb the pole but can’t get past the baffle and it’s too high for them to jump. Now I get plenty of birds and they seem to knock enough seed off the feeder so that the squirrels can graze on the ground underneath so everybody is happy.Anyway, good camera and I’d recommend it but be aware you will attract squirrels. Bird snap awesome product
Awesome product! I love watching the birds in our yard and this happened to use the same app as our security cameras (VicoHome). Easy to assemble, easy to fill!

I purchased this feeder and a solar panel in the Spring of 2024. It was very easy to set up and the birds flocked to it. The app is very intuitive. The video has been very good quality. The AI bird identification is not very accurate at times (sometimes it is way off), but I understand that is the same with other brands. If you take the time to submit what the actual bird ID is, I understand the AI will learn and get better over time. I moved the feeder to my deck railing for the winter so it would be closer for filling (I am in Massachusetts). The solar panel is keeping the camera charged, even with the shorter winter days. I use sunflower hearts and peanuts and have to fill the feeder every day. The birds are there non-stop. I even have a family of Eastern Bluebirds that come to feast. I did try the nectar attachment for hummingbirds over the summer but there was too much bird activity for the hummingbirds. I eventually purchased a smart hummingbird feeder which luckily uses the same app.

Very entertaining!
The Birdsnap is a fun, easy to set up camera feeder – but the solar panel has not been working and when I checked the connection, the cable piece was broken (non-fixable). So, now I will have to buy a replacement solar panel for it. My husband bought it in March for my April birthday, so the 30-day warranty is up. I shouldn’t have to spend more $$ for a part that shouldn’t have broken so soon. Otherwise, a good camera/feeder.

This camera/feeder is perfect. It takes great pictures and the birds seem to pose. I wasn’t sure if the camera was good enough for the job. It performs excellently

AMAZING! Bought this for our mom’s birthday (avid bird watcher!) And we LOVE it! Super easy to assemble and mount, user-friendly app, and instantly started capturing birds and even a raccoon (in the background)! The videos are great and photo images good (depending on lighting of the day and how fast the bird moves haha). The 64GB SD card is a great asset and has been holding over 50 videos so far! Highly recommend. ð¦

Easy to set up and affix to the fence. It DOES NOT have a squirrel deterrent alarm as stated on the box and description but I find the squirrels do have a hard time getting onto it. You do need a subscription – it was $60 for the year and that includes all camera images, videos and bird identification. If you have other VicoHome cameras you can add to the same account.
