Just tried it — good taste.
I just received my first can and tried it by covering a quarter-cup of the little beef cubes with boiling water & waiting 5 minutes.I’m very happy with it! I thought it tasted fine. You know — it does not magically turn into a sizzling t-bone steak, but this stuff would be really good to have in a serious emergency situation. If this stuff can really last for many years while sealed in the can, this is a Big Deal. Now I plan to try another serving every few days and see how it survives now that the can has been opened. In addition to lasting a long time with the can sealed, it would also be nice if it lasts a decent amount of time after the can has been opened.I will come back here and give updates.

Great Emergency supply, meat is bits not chunks
im a bit of a prepper. I’m looking at my food storage supplies and came across this.I ordered one to try before ordering a larger set. I made myself a bowl of it last night to see what it was like.it wasn’t bad, it was a bit chewy and definitely had the flavor of beef. it was good enough to eat a bowl of it by itself. I wouldnt want to eat it by itself all the time. but as an ingredient in a recipe you wouldnt even know it was freeze dried.I actually plan to use the rest of the plan to add to my ramen lunches to add a bit of substance to it.I do feel the photo on the can is deceptive. in the photo it looks like these are half inch pieces, when they are smaller than 1/4″ so I was a little disappointed but for an emergency supply it’s still amazing.these are not steak chunks, these are steak bits, like youd find in a freeze dried meal.

This is a carnivore product for preppers
I have purchased many Augason Farm products and consider them the go-to products for carnivores or people on low-carb or ketogenic needs. I hope I don’t have to open or trade this product. I’m happy to have found it.

Great addition to my pantry.
I havenât opened this to try. Got it to put back for long term. It arrived in great shape. No dents. Like that it has such a long shelf life. Would buy again.

Buying for emergency
Packaging is good, and I’m sure it will come in handy for camping or emergency.

Major Packaging Fail (and Mfr denies it)
I ordered this once before and it was great, but latest one came in a can whose lid hadn’t been put on properly: the “lip” where the lid meets the body of the can was too deep, so the can opener couldn’t “reach” the can itself to cut into it at all points. Where it could reach it sliced through evenly, but some parts it couldn’t reach at all (IE it’s not that the blade is dull). After two passes the same spots were still uncut, and the “cut” parts were making new metal shavings that were falling into the food, so even if I get the lid off another way I get the metal shavings out how?I reached out to the manufacturer since Amazon says I can’t return this, and customer service emailed back that they have “very high quality cans” and I should go buy this one specific can opener. For one, how safe is your emergency supply of food if it requires a specific can opener? Second — again — it’s not that the blade can’t cut through the can, it’s that the blade can’t reach the can because the lip is wider than it should be. That’s not about quality, that’s about dimensions. So now I have almost $100 down the drain because the current cost of beef is so high and couldn’t access this easy protein source during our power outage. Glad I hadn’t bought more than one can and that this wasn’t a more extended serious emergency! I’ll use another brand to do my emergency stock from now on.
