Not too strong but works great and super quiet.

Giving out after a year, not big enough for 10 gallons.
This was a pretty decent budget filter. It’s fairly quiet most of the time, but recently has gotten much, much louder – to the point where I often have to unplug it for my own sanity. After thoroughly disassembling and cleaning it the noise is just as loud, which leads me to believe this thing is about to bite the dust. For $15 I can’t be too mad, it lasted almost exactly a year. I would not use this on a 10 gallon tank again though – the filter cartridges are too small and get saturated with grime way too quick. I have one fish, one mystery snail, and one (rather large) live plant in the tank and have had to change the filter every 2-3 weeks at least and by that point they’re entirely full. This may work for 5 gallons or below (although the housing would probably be a bit big for those since it sits down in the water) but I wouldn’t recommend it for a 10 gallon, its just not enough.

RE-UPDATE (2): It’s rattling again. This time, no matter how much I flush and scrub it won’t stop – seems like the impeller is rattling against the little plastic plate that fits over the impeller compartment and the intake to maximize suction power. I’ve taken the plate off to get it to stop but that makes it much less effective – switching to a sponge filter and throwing this POS in the trash, because it’s 10 DAYS outside the return window… yep, had it for a month and 10 days… DON’T BUY THIS FILTER – you may as well throw your money away.UPDATE (1) : I pulled it out of the tank, took all the pieces apart and flushed the pump with hot water and it’s back to silent – back to loving this filter! :)ORIGINAL REVIEW: This was awesome and silent for the first few days but after only a week it is suddenly making this GOD. AWFUL. rattling noise that is driving me insane, I can’t imagine my betta is digging it too much either.I’m gonna open it up and see if there’s anything easy to fix that I can do but as of right now I am pretty upset with this filter’s performance.

Mmmkay, I suppose we’ll start with the good: it’s cheap and does provide basic functionality. But it’s got some quirks that I’m not all too fond of.1) It’s oddly loud, and I’m saying this specifically about the 10-gallon version. Coincidentally, I also own the 3-gallon one for my betta tank and quite like it. The smaller version is so quite I need to look at the water movement to tell it’s even on. Not the case with it’s bigger brother. The issue seems to be with the lid, like it doesn’t seat correctly. When that is removed, the filter is once again quite.2) It makes the whole tank vibrate. My fish don’t seem to notice, so I suppose it’s ok.3) The filter clogs really, really quickly. I installed this at the same time I was doing a little gravel vacuuming. Anyone who’s completed this task knows it stirs up a decent amount of debris. Nevertheless, I’ve never had it clog a brand-new filter before….until now. After running for about 10 minutes, water was spilling over the cartridge. Ultimately, I removed and back-flushed under the faucet. This fixed the problem, for now.Overall I would not buy again. I thought about returning but felt guilty. Like what is Amazon going to do with a used aquarium filter other that toss it. [Deutsch/German] + Nachtrag Juni 2024Ich habe durch Youtube diese Filter gesehen und auf empfehlung des Nutzers diese geholt.Nicht nur das die Lieferung gute zwei Wochen benötigt gingen sie BEIDE nichtmal nach 1 Tag kaputt.Hatte gestern Abend mein Terrarium fertig eingerichtet und dann lief auch alles gut.Am nächsten morgen stehe ich auf ist einer der beiden Wasserfälle schon nicht mehr am funktionieren. 1 Stunde später fiel auch der zweite aus. Absoluter Müll in meinen Augen. Aber klar wenn man zwei kauft und beide direkt kaput gehen.Als Elektriker kann ich sagen das irgentetwas an dem Pumpenmotor kaput ging, da diese leichte ausbeulungen hatten wie als wenn der Akku eines Handys sich aufbläht.Und Vorsicht die Pumpen haben Amerikanische stecker, man braucht AdapterNachtrag Juni 2024:Die Pumpenmotoren haben sich verabschiedet, weil sie ohne “Transformatoren”, also Stecker oder Geräte die die Spannung von 230 V auf 110V(Amerikanisch) runter transformieren, einfach zuviel Strom bekommen.Diese Pumpen sind für das Deutsche Stromnetz nicht gemacht!!![Englisch/English]I saw these filters on YouTube and got them based on the user’s recommendation.Not only did delivery take a good two weeks, they BOTH didn’t even break after 1 day.I finished setting up my terrarium last night and everything went well.The next morning I get up and one of the two waterfalls is no longer working. 1 hour later the second one also failed. Absolute rubbish in my opinion. But sure, if you buy two and they both break straight away.As an electrician, I can say that something was broken on the pump motor, as it had slight bulges like a cell phone battery inflating.And be careful, the pumps have American plugs, you need an adapter

I really trust and love Aqueon products so that’s why I bought this (the quietflow 10). Needed a filter for my 6.5 planted nano aquarium and it probably is a little big for it but I don’t actually mind because this filter is very sharp and simple looking so it really doesn’t take away much from the tank aesthetic. I have no doubt that it’s filtering the water really well and doing what it should In that regard but my only concern is that this filters outflow is VERY gentle. Which can be good for a Betta fish or smaller fish that don’t like a lot of current Or a tank without live plants. This isn’t ideal for me because it doesn’t agitate the surface enough to break up the proteins that build up on top of the water so now I have to look in to buying a separate skimmer or some kind of other agitator. I’ve tried moving it higher out of the water but as far up as I can move it it still doesn’t break the water up.Even in my 6.5 gallon, this isn’t really a strong enough filter. Other than that I love how it looks, it’s quiet, it’s easy to take apart and I like the biological filtration sponge thing that’s included.
