Nice replacement!
Love this one! Got the 20″ for my 10 gallon beta fish tank. Works and looks great! I have seen ppl complain about the low lighting. I like that. It cuts down on algae growth while still providing plenty of light. The blue/night light is a nice bonus. I also love that it has the whole width front access flap. Can’t stand that a lot of new tank kits don’t have that. Have had it 3 weeks and am now purchasing a 24″ for my 20 gal tank because I like the 20 so much. Would definitely recommend this hood! Including a close up of Nugs for your viewing pleasure!

I was hesitant to buy this after reading some reviews but it fits great on my 20 gallon tall tank. The light is plenty bright without having to have a second set. Very happy. Easy assembly.

This hood was a terrific upgrade, replacing the old cheap one that came with a second-hand aquarium. It fits beautifully on my 12 x 24 inch, 20 gallon aquarium. I really like the glass separating the lights and the water, it makes me feel much safer with that electrical. It looks awesome. I am 100% pleased

Excellent replacement upgrade to LED for my aquarium – A+++ Saves me from having to replace flourescents that go out each time.
The Aqueon LED Background Hood was a good buy for me. I needed to replace a hood and strip from my Aqueon 55 gallon tank with is fluorescent. I figured if I need to replace it, I might as well go with the LED version since it will save me the cost of replacing fluorescent light tubes over and over again through the life of the aquarium. It was an excellent buy. It fit perfectly and exactly with the old tank lighting set.The plastic is the same. It is thick, sturdy and solid. The quality is 100% good. I have no concerns or doubts regarding this set. The hood portion is identical to the fluorescent set-up. The only difference is the strip portion which fits onto the hood portion universally between fluorescent and LED.There is a small blue LED included for night time lighting which is the toggle switch set at center.From the Aqueon page:Each fixture comes preloaded with one Day White LED lamp but has an expansion slot to add one additional. Comes with moon glow accent LED light and three-way switch to turn LED lights on, turn everything off or to turn the moon glow accent on. Ideal upgrade for a fluorescent strip light replacement and fits the appropriate size Aqueon® Deluxe Full Hood.If you only need to replace the lighting strip itself and not the entire hood and light set-up because maybe the ballast went out, you can just order the LED strip if you want to save a few dollars. But, buying the whole hood and light set will allow you to have an extra hood which makes replacing to clean very easy since you can just switch it out with a clean one and then clean the old one when you have time.Aqueon Strip Light LED, 24″They also fit on my 25 gallon Aqueon tank as well since it uses the same hood and strip set as my 55 gallon.I definitely recommend this as a replacement for an Aqueon tank that uses the lighting set-up. Great Hood, Excellent Features
I bought this hood as a replacement for an old fluorescent hood that I had been using for quite some time. This hood is excellent.In terms of aesthetics, the hood itself is what you might expect. It is mostly made from black plastic, with a glass pane to protect the light area. My only concern is with the plastic hinges which allow for the front section to be lifted up (for cleaning and feeding). On my old hood, there were very similar hinges that both broke over time. I’ve only had this product for a little over a week, so I can’t comment on its durability yet. It seems overall well made, if not a little flimsy, but we’ll see.Let’s talk about LEDs. LEDs are a better choice over fluorescent in nearly every situation, even outside of aquarium keeping. I exclusively use LED bulbs in my house. They last longer, run cheaper, and overall, in my opinion, look “cleaner”. With aquariums, upgrading to LEDs is one of the best upgrades available. This product uses them to their full potential. On the underside of the hood, there are two sets of clips for Aqueon’s own LED lamps, one of which is included and already installed in the product. There are four different varieties of lamps Aqueon makes:Day White – Bright white light (one of these is included with the product)Colormax – Mixes red and white LEDs for a warmer colorMax Blue – Uses blue LEDs for a deep sea lookBeauty Max – Blends several colors for a rich color spectrumI personally went with two Day White lamps, since one was already included. I may try out the others at a later time. With two, they provide a fair bit of light that should be sufficient for growing low to medium-light plants in a 29-gallon tall aquarium.While we’re still on the topic of LEDs, to my surprise, the hood also includes two single blue LEDs for a night-time moonlight effect. You must use a switch to change from the daylight lamps to the moonlight LEDs, which means you can’t put them on a separate timer, but it is still a cool feature that doesn’t really seem to be advertised.The power cord is nice. It actually has a “breakaway” design similar to that found on certain corded video game controllers. For those of you who don’t know what I mean, the power cord is actually two segments which attach together. This way, if you pull the hood beyond the reach of its cord, it will simply detach from the other end to prevent the pulling of the wires. This is also a very helpful feature if you want to remove the entire hood. You don’t have to drag the whole power cord with it.The hood also features various perforated cut-out areas for a filter, etc. There are two sizes of cutouts for a HOB filter, which is pretty standard. They are both on the left side. I only needed to punch out the smaller one to fit my filter. There are also two very small slots already cut out on the back for running cords (for heaters, etc.). Finally, there’s also a smaller, rounded cutout on the right side, which would likely be used for a canister filter system or a power head, neither of which I use. Of course, being plastic, with the right tools, it wouldn’t be difficult to make your own cut-outs as well.Overall, this product is great. I always feel like hoods in general are a little pricey. I still feel that way about this one, but I’m happy I bought it, and I highly recommend it for anyone else.

I love this lid! Came in 2 days. Looks great. I really like the big door for feeding. Love the lights. My old hood had bulbs, so this is a nice change and love the glass across middle to protect lights from water. Some people complained about the lights but it is plenty light for my 10 gallon tank. And the night light is cool feature. And if you need more light you can purchase another bulb, it will hold 2 strips of daytime lights but only comes with one day light. the switch for the light goes day light to off to night light. hopes this helps someone. I would buy it again for my 10 gallon tank.

Was hesitant at first to purchase, but I read reviews and bought it. To further clarify, this is exactly what I needed for my 10Gal Aqueon tank, and the led hood has two light fittings, comes with the led Day White light which I’m glad is only 2Watt. Moon Glow is built in and I love it, just flip the Day switch and it comes on. I plan on getting the Aqueon 20” blue/white bi led too.

Bought the 30 inch for my 20 gallon long I had bought at Petsmart and it fit perfectly. Although it only comes with one bulb for daylight it is more than enough light for my tank. The blue light for night is nice although I don’t find I use it much. It is nice that you can add a second bulb if you like. The hinged front makes it easy for feeding and water changes. The back strip has great cut outs for your filters and such to fit.

NOTE: This hood doesn’t fit the Top Fin/PetSmart brand 29 gallon aquariumI have a 29 gal aquarium from Top Fin/PetSmart. Unfortunately, this hood is approximately 0.5cm too wide (1cm total for both sides) and won’t fit within the rim of the tank.However, it’s a very good product. While it could be more solidly built, the led lights can be replaced and I like the fact that the hinged door is the full length of the hood. I can finally do water changes without removing the hood!Even though it doesn’t fit my aquarium, I ended up keeping it.
