What Algae Bloom?
It really works. I was very skeptical about this product working. I finally gave in and purchased this one. Mainly for the price so I wouldn’t really care as much if it didn’t work as described. I have a shrimp tank with live plants and an algae bloom took over. Worried about treating with chemicals searched for options and UV came up. I ordered this item, put it in the filter and let it run. Within 12 hours there was a drastic change in the clarity of the water. As for longevity of the gear that is to be seen, but for treating the algae bloom A+.

Mini 3W Awusrium & UV Light
So far, I am very happy with this product. I have recently been diagnosed with an infection from my fish tanks called, Mycobactirium Marinum. That is the main reason I purchased this UV light. It sits inside the hang on back filter and kills dangerous bacteria in the water which the filter doesn’t pick up. The infection is rare, but it’s difficult to diagnose and many Drs. aren’t aware of it. Aside from that, it has made the aquarium water crystal clear, and my tanks are beautiful. I haven’t had this product for very long so I don’t know about the longevity of it, but it is affordable, so I don’t feel that is an issue. This is a UV light and should not be placed in the tank itself. It can harm the fish (blind them, or even kill them) and it can also harm people if they look at it.

Use Caution When Using
The instructions for this product are extremely important but, unfortunately, are poorly written and the usage warnings are not apparent.Before you use this product, the light MUST be encased it in something UVC-proof (such as a filter box or decoration). The bare bulb will kill your fish and will destroy your eyeballs.Most retail outlets only sell fully encased systems and do not sell bare bulbs for this reason.

Cleared my water in just a few days
I bought this to reduce the green water color in my tank, and it worked. I placed it in my hang on filter so the light won’t be directly visible to the fist as it can be harmful in direct contact. I connected it to a smart plug and run it 1hour 3 times a week. I used it for 2 hours daily when I received it but now I have it set automatically to the 1h 3x/week schedule and my water has been clear since with no more algae overgrowth

Ten stars!!!! Cleaned our 30 gal tank up within a week!!! We have a pleco, and he wasnât eating all of the algae tablets (my son probably over fed as well) and it saturated the water. I didnât want to use a water clarifier so our tank was overrun. I was looking for an easy solution and this little bulb just went in the filter system and did all the hard work! Couldnât believe it!! Just make sure you follow the directions, but would 1000% buy again!

Takes Patience But Works Miracles!
I have a Fluval Spec 5 gallon tank for my beautiful betta but no matter what I did in the water turned a cloudy green within 24 hours of a water change. I blacked out window panes, I closed blinds, I changed the filter components, I even resorted to chemicals. Nothing helped. In fact, I lost one betta and several plants. By chance I came upon an article that recommended a miniature UV light. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I was able to fit it into the outflow section of the filter and left it running continuously. After a week, I could see a marked change. Now, after 21/2 weeks and with regular water changes my tank is crystal clear. It is absolutely beautiful! I have it set for a 6 hour interval every 24 hours and my tank is staying clear. I cannot recommend it more highly with the reminder that it will not clear your tank overnight. Just give it time!

The small size might not be enough.
The size is great for my small 5.5 gal tank with builtin filter. I just lay the bulb on top of the filter so that the fish are protected from the light. Sadly, I am not getting the results I was hoping for. The pictures of the tank are 3 day apart. I “might” be seeing some improvement. Of course the pic of the bulb, the bulb is not turned on so as not to hurt my eyes, but it stays on continuously. What do you think? The unit is easy to operate. The programable hour option is straight forward. The cord is a generous length- no complaints there. I’m not sure yet if I’ll keep it.

This honestly transformed the hobby for me, BUT: some of you cannot be trusted with this. Before you plug this in, you MUST encase it in something UVC-proof, or you will destroy eyeballs (and also plastics). What I do is lower the bulb into a small ceramic vase, then lower an airstone into the vase on top of the bulb, then fill the rest of the vase with gravel (so no fish can ever see the bulb). Then put the vase in the aquarium. Only then, do I plug in the UVC bulb. The airstone circulates water around the UVC bulb inside the vase. Just leave it on 24/7, because the bulb actually lasts longer if you don’t turn it on/off repeatedly.Within a couple days, my aquariums always look crystal-clear. (EDIT: note it can take up to 2 weeks depending on other filtration, and also what the specific organism is clouding the water.) For the very low price, this product is exceptional. It feels like I’ve discovered a great secret. But only if you’re smart enough to put the bulb in something UVC-proof, you should NEVER see the light. Again I recommend ceramic, and then bury it in gravel just to be sure. Do that, and then it’s perfectly safe and does fantastic things for your water quality.

I made a few changes in my tank at the same time â this light and polyfill. After my last water change, I added this light and ran for 6 hours in the rear compartment, and added polyfill to the intakes on my Fluval Flex 123. Water is crystal clear. The only thing I would warn is the light does not have a cover and must be placed somewhere that the fish will not be exposed directly.

My fish tank had a green algae problem. I blacked out my tank with a black trash bag for over a week. I bought special filter media and nothing helped. I bought this uv light and put it inside my external filter on the back of my tank. I left the light on for 24 hours a day for 3 days. The 4th day I woke up and my tank was 100% clear. Now I leave the bulb in my external filter and the light on for 6 hours a day. In a few days I will lower it to 3 hours per day and after this I will only use the light if I see the water turning green. Great product. Thank you very much.
