This is a really good unit
It’s easy to assemble, easy to clean and it works. My aquarium is in front of a window with 3 foot eaves facing south. I still have the double plastic hurricane panels on it. I thought I was safe until the day it went completely, blackout green. I tried everything and finally one of my fish gurus said, you’re going to have to use UV. It was cheaper than I expected so I bought one.A lot of people don’t like the two cord system but it allows you to change the timer without unplugging the filter since they are on separate circuits. At the end of the first day I could see two inches into the aquarium. By day three I could see halfway into the aquarium. I was and am doing every other day 20% water changes. That’s the largest amount of water I can lift at 74. The filters get cleaned. Today I cleaned this filter and it was a snap to do. I love it so much, I bought a second one for my 40 gal. You could probably get it into a 10 gal tank but it would be tight and the motor is powerful enough that your fish probably wouldn’t appreciate it. I have both exhausts running and air intake almost closed in the 20 gal tank. I bought the 10-40 gal size. It is definitely killing the algae because those filters are nasty when I clean them. This a good unit.

Must have for your Aquaeium
WOW nice for the Aquarium. along with regular water and filter changes will keep your fish big and healthy. I had ICH on one of my big silver dollars. When the ich white nodule drops off and reproduces the UV light gives it a permanent sunburn lol, killing it. Kills a lot of water born diseases. I bought my first one to get rid of green water. Worked perfect. The fish looked so healthy I bought 2 more for other aquariums i have.

Donât waste your time or money
Installed this to get rid of a green water bloom and it made no improvement whatsoever. The green water got continuously worse even when letting the light run 24/7 for weeks with regular weekly water changes.This thing blows the water around super hard even with the airflow turned completely off. Total waste of money. We ended up buying a uv light bulb and dropping it into the original filter housing and that finally solved the problem.We have a 55 gallon tank and purchased the model that is supposed to be for up to 70. This picture is days after a water change after having it in there for 3 weeks

End aquarium green water
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Had green water that could not be controlled. Tried a chemical treatment that killed many of my fish. Multiple water changes even up to 90% and no luck. Desperate I figured I would try this and not expecting it to work. To my surprise it worked amazingly well, every day you could see the water clear a small amount and after about a week the green water was gone. Couldnât be happier.Â

check the flow rate
Advertised here for 10-40 gallons, but the box does not specify. I have one in a 30 gallon and it is just fine with just the right amount of flow. So got a second one for a 10 gallon tank to replace a different brand that was no longer working. However, the current this second one puts out from its power head is incredible; box says 130gph. Despite the label, this one must be for a 40-70 gallon or greater tank. Definitely not for a 10 gallon beta tank since they like very slow waters. Advertised as adjustable, but the adjustment is only using one or two outlets and does not decrease the flow.

There is one thing I would change about this filter. As a buyer you should understand what you are buying here. Most experienced hobbyists understand that regardless of the manufacturer title of this product……it’s not much of a filter. The “filter” in this product is small………about one inch wide and about 4-5 inches long. It is a very coarse sponge with large open pores. Its only function is to prevent large debris from entering the light chamber.My aquarium is pretty clean and the water crystal clear. Even so, I had to dismantle this unit and clean it top to bottom as the flow diminished to almost nothing and it quit aerating completely after two weeks. If you do your home work you will see that most filters like this one need to be cleaned frequently so………………why not put an additional filter media next to the coarse sponge to actually get some water particle filtration?The unit does two things well: it aerates like a champ and the UV light is powerful enough it really did a number on my algae issue. It is supposed to provide some amount of sterilization for harmful bacteria and viruses in your tank. I assume it’s working. The one thing it does not do well, and is not designed for is filter your water.This unit should only be used in addition to a quality cartridge or a HOB filter system in your tank.

This worked EXACTLY as advertised. After one day, the pea soup in my aquarium was thinning enough to see through. After a week, it was crystal clear again.

Awesome algae UV pump!
This really does the job, if your aquarium is in a well lit room where sunlight comes in and itâs just something that you canât control, you need this. It helps control all of that algae growth. We only run it for eight hours, because you do want some natural algae for things like your algae eating fish, so we run it at night time for eight hours and let the daytime just use the pump. Itâs a great product. My aquarium looks so clear, this is in a 60 gallon.
