Helped clear our freshwater tank of algae
We were at our wit’s end trying to clear our 20 gallon tank of bad algae and cloudiness. After using this several hours a day for a few days, it cleared up nicely. I still turn it on randomly for a few hours to maintain algae control

Filtration with UV light in the planted aquaria makes a HUGE difference, it is not a must, but it makes quite an impact at keeping the water clear for a much longer period of time in between water changes and filter cleaning. Normally light is put inside a canister of sorts, and water flows around it, since the exposure to light is very bad for your fish and even for your plants. So this light only works if you have a sump, or a safe hidden location (like really hidden where the fish cannot go into) in your tank. My case, I placed two of these inside my 90gallong overflow box which cannot be seen by the fish and does not shine on the plants. I run it 12 hours during the night when no one is looking at the tank. It does a fantastic job keeping the floating algicide particles dead and caught by the filter. If you have a spot to put it, I would definitely recommend it. I hope this assists you with your shopping. Seeing is Believing
So, I was skeptical about using such a small UV like in a freshwater tank I had set up.I couldn’t believe something so small and so inexpensive was going to solve my issue with slightly cloudy water. But I was wrong….I received my UV light on Sunday afternoon and got it all set up in the filter box on the back of the tank. The water in my tank would fluctuate from pretty darn cloudy to slightly cloudy and back and forth. I didn’t want to put more clarifying chemicals in the tank because after a while those have got to affect the fish.Kept the light on Sunday for about 3 or 4 hours and I thought I started to see a difference but then figured it was just wishful thinking. Kicked it back on Monday morning and by late afternoon the tank was 100% clearer, it was amazing. By yesterday (Tuesday) the tank was crystal clear, the fish seemed more active and I was thrilled.This light does the job, even if I have to replace it every few months it wasn’t that expensive and is so well worth the cost! Great product and does exactly what it says it will do.

What a difference!! Worth every dollar!!
New to this hobby, was super excited but I noticed water change after water change my tank had this dirty look! It got REALLY BAD. Couldnât see any fish! I looked into what could be causing this and came across all these fancy and expensive sterilizing filters! Decided to give this a try since it was so much cheaper compared to everything I was seeing to help with my algae outbreak. This actual product didnât fit all the way in my water filter (had to improvise) yet as you can see it did what it needed to do. Iâve also stopped feeding my fish twice a day. They are hungrier and less food left in the tank. I put the lamp in on November 2nd and today is the 14th. I did a 50% water change and turned off the lamp. I will be switching it on and off as needed. Honestly worth the money! Hope you see this review before you buy anything 4x this price!

Want crystal clear water in your aquarium?Place your UV light in the pump section of the tank, this way it is behind the plastic and cannot hurt the betta (or fish)â¦..I turn on the UV light in the morning and turn it off when I go to bed. Ignore the reviews that say it kills the fishâ¦.it kills algae if installed correctly.I added about ½ scoop of the Ultralife stain removed dissolved in some tank water, scoop comes in the package and the tube of Ultralife is good for an entire human lifetime.I took out the foam insert filter and placed the biomax in the bottom opening. In the top opening I removed the carbon filter (and donât think I will use that again) and I placed a handful of rinsed regular floss, stuffed it in there.On top of the filter I placed a cut out piece of the polishing pad with the rough side down. Then I placed the handle to hold it and put the inTank Pond Filter floss on topã

Be aware this product kills fish
I placed the light under the hood of the aquarium and in just the first day the fish all but the Cory cats became stressed. The next day I removed the light and I lost 1-neon and 1-black Molly and was about to loose a sword tail. So I replaced 1/4 of the water in the tank. It took several days but the swordtail survived. I thought the people who had trouble loosing fish was attributed to extra heat so I monitored temp and it stayed at 76F. The light was partially submerged so it might have been chemicals in the light. This is the first bad feedback I have placed and the most obvious fault in a product I have seen.

Did the job! Cleared up the tank in under a week, did exactly what I was hoping for. I won’t lie my tank was so green I didnt think to take a before picture because my expectations were low. But with this combined with a clear fast I went back to crystal blue water in no time.Not sure how I will replace the bulb of this if/ when it does, but for now tucked away in my filter tank this light is doing its job!
