Effectively controls these types of saltwater algae: Green algae (Cladophora), “Red Slime” (Oscillatoria / Spirulina major), “Brown Algae” (Cyclotella) in marine aquariums containing live corals, invertebrates and fish.
When used in salt water will not harm snails, clams, scallops, shrimp, anemones, sea cucumbers, feather dusters, coralline algae, soft corals, hard corals and other invertebrates.
Dose every three days until algae is under control then dose weekly

I have a 55 gal. SW tank 5+ years and have been struggling with red/green algae for past 3 months; no success with other products/methods that have worked in the past. I was reluctant to use this product because of mixed reviews, but ready to try anything that worked.Per bottle instructions: I dosed 5ml on day 1 and then again on day 3. Finally, all algae gone, all fish/inverts are fine after those two doses! Additional observations: PRIOR to using this product, I spent 3 months dosing with other cyano meds and doing frequent small water changes (2 gal). Thus, the natural biosystem of good-bacteria was depleted which set off it’s own cycle of death-decay-continued algae bloom. Therefore, in addition to the final application ALGAEFIX I used a full bottle of Bio-Spira (Instant Ocean) to restore the good bacteria and a small dose of Safe (Seachem) to detoxify any build up of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. During treatment I turned off the protein skimmer, removed my usual mix of chemical filtrants and added an airpump/airstone to ensure additional oxygenation of water.Many aquarists do not understand the complex nature of algae blooms or how various medicants can actually contribute to secondary problems. Killing off aquarium algae can reduce dissolved oxygen. Overly frequent water changes post-medication can deplete good bacteria. Loss of good bacteria can cause infection/disease/death of other tank inhabitants which then increase ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels in addition to sustaining algae growth. It becomes a never ending cycle.Therefore, the controlled dosage of ALGAEFIX may need supplementation for dissolved oxygen, bio-bacteria and controlling sudden spikes in ammonia/nitrate/nitrite.Per bottle’s instructions, I will continue to use ALGAEFIX once/week as a proactive measure. Hope this additional info is helpful to others.
