Product description

We are third and fourth generation feeder farmers. The family farm has been producing feeders for over 60 years, and is one of the few to produce the acheta and banded.

Banded
The banded breed is relatively new on the scene. It has become popular in the United States in the last few years. They are heartier and more resistant to problems caused by extreme weather conditions.

What are the benefits of the banded cricket?
The banded is faster than the acheta, the other dominant breed. This gives pets more of a challenge to catching their food. They also contain more protein than some of the other more dominant breeds.

Are they covered if they die in transit?
Yes! It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally they will arrive dead. That is the nature of shipping live animals. We do have a live delivery policy, and you are covered as long as you let us know within 72 hours of receiving your package.

Do you ship in the winter months?
We do! We ship all times of the year! We package them in a variety of different ways to get them there alive. Sometimes we use boxes without vents. Don’t worry! They can still get fresh air in these boxes. We also sometimes use heat packs, when we feel they will help and are necessary.
We do recommend against ordering when overnight lows are below 25 degrees Fahrenheit. We will always ship because we understand that your pet needs its food, but it is too cold when it get that low.
They may appear dead when they arrive to you in the cooler months, but are usually just in hibernation. Let them warm for 3 to 4 hours, and they will usually come back.

Customers say
Customers find these crickets to be of good quality, healthy, and very active, while also appreciating their excellent value. The box condition receives positive feedback, with crickets arriving in good shape. However, customers disagree on the size, with some finding them too big for baby bearded dragons. Moreover, the crickets’ death rate is concerning, with many reporting that 95% of them arrived dead. Additionally, some customers report issues with strange beetles in the box.

Feed your crickets and they live
I’m giving this 4 stars this time only because the most recent package I received was much smaller with very little airflow, and about half of the crickets died. The first time, it was a larger flat box with plenty of airflow, and it was delivered to my door. This time USPS put it in a box (I live in a condo). This might be my fault for not telling the seller, but I assumed it would be delivered to my door like the first time. My first order, all the crickets came alive and well, and if you feed and water them they last. My 500 1/2 inch crickets lived about 3 weeks and grew to a good size, and the expected amount died while in my care. I will be ordering again, and I’ll leave a request to have it delivered to my door, and if that’s done, I will gladly give 5 stars.**Update**I ordered another box and contacted the seller to see if they can request USPS drop off the box at my door. They informed me they can write it on the box, but the postal employee will be the one who determines these things, and I tend to agree.

No heat pack, 100% dead
The listing says heat pack included if necessary. I would say below freezing temps all over the country qualify as âneededâ but none was included. They all are 100% dead. Not a single living cricket. I let them warm up in my house for a couple hours just in case they needed warmed up but no luck. Completely dead. And itâs pretty difficult to request a refund. Unfortunately I wouldnât recommend ordering unless the outside temps are perfect.

Half of them were DOA!
I have edited this!Lately in So California, getting crickets is like going on a treasure hunt, and when you buy them, the max one can buy at our local pet store is 50 at the price of $.17 a buggo. With my little bearded dragon, it costs me about $120 a month to feed her. Thatâs more than I pay for dog food for my 5 dogs. With that headache in mind, I took the plunge and opted to buy in bulk. This seller offered 500 for $27.99, roughly 6 cents a bug – a great price. I bought a small tank with a screen top to house them and I hope theyâll breed so I donât have to purchase them as often. I opened their shipping box, which was compact and had plenty of egg crate, and proceeded to dump the crickets in the tank. The first thing I noticed was that these were not medium size crickets, they were JUMBO! On the not so good side half of them were dead. I donât know if they had a rough ride, if they cannibalized each other or what, but I mugshotted them, and gave the dead a burial.Along with these crickets came a variety of stowaways. There were little black beetle looking bugs that kind of looked like ticks, and some long black bug that looked like a little worm with legs.I wasnât sure sure how I felt about this. This seller was one of the more expensive, and I went with them because of their great reviews. Because so many arrived dead, Iâm disappointed.I emailed the seller explaining the situation and they promptly responded. They gave me a choice of a refund or replacement, and I felt that since my dragon has 250 or so to eat for now, adding another 500 might be overkill, and they might die before she can eat them. With that I chose a refund for now, and next time I need more, I will reuse this vendor. Accidents happen, and Iâm very happy the sellers were so accommodating.

Reliable! Will be buying again
I was very worried about my order, as it arrived 4-5 days after my purchase, and instead of being delivered to my door, it was placed in a mailbox I couldnât get to for several hours. Then I saw just how small the box they were in was, and I was sure it would be at least half full of dead crickets. I was really surprised when Iâd opened the box to, nearly, all 500 safe and sound. There was a pretty bad smell, the potato was rotten, and there were a lot of feces, but I feel thatâs to be expected when thereâs 500 bugs crammed into a small box for 5 days. They all seem very healthy too. Normally when I purchase crickets from a pet store, about 1/3 of the crickets end up dying after a week. But after a week of having these, it seems the only casualties have been from my lizard.

Pros y contras

Very little cricket’s
They are very small. I ordered half inch crickets and these are quarter inch or smaller.
