design does not really work for my cat and bows down slightly in the middle
This horizontal scratching post is an interesting idea but it did not work well for my small cat. The cat did not show real interest in using this post until I rubbed catnip on it and even after that, she seems fairly disinterested. During her catnip exploration, the cat did sort of climb all over the sisal part of the post and she scratched on it for a bit, but the majority of her interest was on the catnip and rubbing on the toys and wooden edges of the post. The size was somewhat similar to our vertical scratching posts, but it seemed a little small for the cat when laying horizontal. The diameter of the sisal pillar is a little small as well. I with the wooden separator between the scratching posts was not unfinished because it looks like it may develop splinters. Assembly wise I found this pretty straight forward but the side posts did not have holes drilled all the way through the wooden pieces. Thankfully even my small hands were able to punch the screw through the wooden boards to finish assembly of the scratching post. The center of the scratching post sort of bows down and when I complained about it, my husband tried tightening it only to find the item looks more bowed now. I think the bowed look is partly due to the design and the post would not bend so much if it was vertically stacked. A heavy cat may break this, so in general I think this might be best suited for kittens and very small cats. The good news is that I was curious about the horizontal scratching post and when it did not work out, I was able to take the sisal posts and use them on my vertical scratching post base so all was not lost. That might be a nice thing about this set–that the parts are interchangeable and somewhat standard with other scratching posts.

Very nice horizontal scratching post
This is a nice scratching post for us to use in what we call our cat sanctuary. This is the perfect size for a horizontal scratching post. We put it together, which wasn’t hard at all, and we set it up on the bricks of the fireplace. The two kittens took to it right away, and love it, and the two grown up cats seem to like it, too, especially the toys. It does bend a bit in the center, but I think there may be a fix for this somehow, like another bracket that goes in the middle. All in all, I think this is a very nice scratching post.

A miss for me, feels not quite ready for prime time.
So, as someone who has a lot of cat shelves and cat enrichment products, this one really doesn’t impress me. The idea is a good one but the execution leaves a lot of be desired. The main problem is that the connection interface between all the parts isn’t very secure. For example, the two pieces of the scratching post have to screw together with a piece of threaded rod. But no matter how much you twist the two and how tight they get, there is still some wiggle in the connection and when you set it on the floor it sags a bit. It seems like the threaded inserts just aren’t that secure in the ends. Also the screws they give you are Phillips head instead of sockets and it makes it hard to get them tight.Another problem was the holes weren’t drilled all the way through, I had to finish them myself. You can see in the pictures. It just has that feel of a prototype that wasn’t quite thought out all the way.Another problem is that it slides around on the floor. It could benefit from some kind of rubber feet. I ended up drilling holes in it and mounting it on the wall and it works a bit better that way but overall the quality here is low. The interface between the two scratching sections is rough and a lot of cardboard shows through. There’s also the issue that the two cat toys are close together and the spring wires get tangled up almost immediately. It just doesn’t feel like a $26 product to me.

Kitten loves it. Reasonable price. Easy assembly.
My kitten loves this 30 Inch Horizontal Cute Scratching Post because it comes with Interactive Dual Spring Toys. He loves playing with them and spent an hour last night doing so. It seems sturdy, and I saw him use it as a scratching post today, hurrah. I wasnât sure how to train him to use it to sharpen his nails, but he figured it out. He just walked across it and started sharpening, and the scratching post did not move at all. Our older cat hasnât been as enamored with this post as the kitten, but seems to like it, too, though I havenât seen her scratch at it. Assembly was intuitive and really easy, I did not even use a screwdriver before placing it down for the cat, but it does eventually need to be tightened on the ends. Cat scratching posts tend to be expensive, but this one is reasonably priced, especially with the included toys.

Cute and stable cat toy thatâs easy to assemble and move around
Always looking for enrichment for my four-year-old kitties, so I thought they would like this cute “balance beam” looking scratching post. One of my boys really liked the mouse on a spring and played with it for at least 15-20 minutes, but neither of them seemed too interested in the scratching post part. I might move it somewhere else and see if they change their mind. It was easy to put together and lightweight, so it will be easy to pick up and move. Doesn’t wobble at all when placed on thick carpet–we’ll see if that changes when placed on a hard floor, but it seems pretty stable.

Not very practicle
This elongated cat scratcher is kind of impractical – it takes up a lot of room if it is laying flat – not sure how stable it would be if you wall mounted it as the center where you hook the two pieces together is very weak and bends. The only nice thing about this scratcher was the no tool assembly – it just screwed together without any wrenches. The instructions were sort of slim but it was a pretty basic assembly. All in all I can’t really suggest this cat scratcher as a good buy.
