Decent set of birds for Pre-K small world play
Kukifun 30 piece bird playset is nice. This set included a variety of birds in all different poses. I am a Pre-K teacher and have many sets of miniature toys for the classroom.In the package you will receive:24 birds1 tropical flower1 real stick/vine nest5 hollow plastic speckled eggsThere were 10 birds in flight with outstretched wings. Four birds had good solid bases/ground to stand them up. Four are perched on a twig and use their tail feathers to help them stand upright. Three stand ok on feet only. There are 3 birds that don’t stand up. Those include a duplicate in my set; the spoonbill, which unfortunately does not stand up. Also the owl does not stand unless awkwardly tilted onto his tail.Honestly, this set is hit and miss for me. Many of these birds are taken right from Safari Ltd. sets which I have purchased for years. You will find them in the Safari Ltd. Exotic Birds set, Backyard Birds set and Rainforest set. Other birds here are simply ok and might not stand, have unrealistic colored details, or just look cheap.I saw the nest on a cake in the ad and I wouldn’t advise that as a food safe item. Dirt and debris is constantly shedding off it. The nest is probably best as a decoration. The sticks/vines are real and crumble/shed. The eggs are hollow with a hole in one end. I have used this type egg in the classroom before and one squeeze from a child leaves them dented and you can’t fix it. So, not really designed for children.Also note that the ad shows the hummingbird above the flower like his beak fits into a hole and can be suspended like that. Not the case. There is a hole in the flower and it looks like they go together, but they don’t. Also, the hummingbird has a flimsy beak that does not fit in that hole and will not support his body weight. Compared to Safari Ltd. prices, this set seems a fair price for quantity. Ages 3+
