Awesome canister filter!
I don’t think you can find a better canister filter for the price anywhere! I had to cut a foot off each hose to prevent loops and keep it straight with just a little slack,its easy to put together, instructions were great, it gas an extra uv sterizer bulb and if you follow the directions it will work great, it took me turning the intake valve down some before the syphon effect kicked in and it blew out some bubbles and worked perfectly! No noise at all or bubbles! Then I turned the + – back up to full speed, its very powerful and hasn’t leaked a drop! I did rub some olive oil on all gaskets and o rings along with the main seal around the canister, it prevents dry rot and help it move without pinching, the uv sterilizer is very effective for killing algae and bacteria but im glad it has a switch on top because if you leave it on too much it can kill good bacteria too! I do a few days on and off, I still can’t believe how nice it is for the price! I have people comment that they can’t hear it at all! Built tough and looks good too! My water is sparkling clean ,happy fish,my live plants are growing like crazy, so I would highly recommend it! The best aquarium filter I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of different filters that all were a pain in the rear and broke easily.

This filter had been up and running in my tank for about 6 months. Iâve waited to write this review to see how this really works. Iâm happy to report weâve had no problems with this filter. It was easy to set up, runs quiet and efficiently. Very happy with this purchase as it was reasonably priced and has the features other expensive canister filters have!

Terribly upset with this filter
For this review I’m going to cover some quick facts.1. Not easy to set up.2. Randomly stops pumping.3. VERY cheap quality materials used.4. Doesn’t clean effectively as mentioned.Now just to highlight these more.Set up is mentioned to be easy but there are no instructions given. I ended up following the video on here but they don’t yell you a VERY important detail first which is you have to cut the tubing to make it straight. I didn’t see that part until we already had it hooked up. We actually did cut the tubing prior but it wasn’t enough when I thought it would be. This thing is very finicky when it comes to that.So about fifteen days in the water looked terrible and that’s when I realized it had stopped pumping. I luckily still had both filters running.Now fast forward to this week..we lost power for four days. I had a battery backup so it’s fine. We get power back on it takes forever to get it going again (see other notes about this) but we get it going. Now I thought we were fine so I turned off the battery pump. Woke up this morning and one of my 5yo cichlids is dead the other two are at the top of the tank struggling to breathe. Somehow in that time the pump stopped again. This time I hadn’t had my additional pump because this one we thought was good but apparently not. Got it started again but this doesn’t take away the issues.Tubing is clear and no clogs because I checked.When we looked inside we did discover how terrible the quality is on the motor and all that.So honestly I get wanting to save money .but I really can’t stop crying over this because my saving money killed my fish. And sadly this happened before too with another product.We are out of the return window too so just overall terrible

Great at its job maybe even too good
It is very fussy to use, but once we get the hang of it, it is quite easy and allows for a much higher fish count, with significantly better filtration. However, I recommend not running it on full blast, as it will stress out the fish. Other than that, it does very well with strawberries and is quite quiet. I never heard it unless it needed attention, such as when the water was running too low.

Worth the effort
I purchased this canister filter because I was fed up with all of the filters that we had tried before. There were internal filters which clogged quickly and were a pain to remove for cleaning, poor quality hang on back filters which broke the first time I cleaned them, and giant hand on back filters which filtered great but were an eyesore.This filter is the bomb. It has worked very well to improve the water quality in our 10 gallon tank. It wasn’t the easiest to set up because we wanted lilly tubes rather than using the provided inlet/outflow tubes. It was worth the trouble though because the tank looks amazing. There hasn’t been any trouble with leaking. Setup took a bit of planning to find tubing and connectors that would connect the lilly tube to the canister connectors. Of course they weren’t the same size… The pump is pretty quiet once air worked out of the canister. The flow is adjustable to a level that works with the shrimp. We used the UV light for the first few days to clear up the water, but now we don’t use it every day.This aquarium canister filter has worked great for us. It cost far less than some of the more well known brands, but has performed very well. We are happy with the result and the aquarium looks great.

This 225GPH canister filter is unbelievable for the price! The 4-stage filtration (mechanical, chemical, biological, UV) makes my 55-gallon tank water crystal clear within 48 hours. It’s ultra-quiet (less than 25dB) – I can’t hear it even at night. The compact design fits perfectly in my cabinet with 2 inches to spare. After 6 months of use, the ceramic shaft shows zero wear, and the self-priming function still works instantly. For under $60, it performs like $200+ models!

Glass case for the light came broken
The glass case for the light is broken. I heard something rattle and unscrewed the area for the light and glass pieces fall out. Not sure if I can use this with the glass case around the light. Not sure how itâll keep my tank clean because itâs not useable right now.

SUPER HAPPY with this pump. Very quiet and has a lot of benefits. I have used Fluval in the past (30+ years) and this one is just as good. I have been using it for about one month now.

Bought this as an extra filter for my 90 gallon already running a fluval fx 6. It definitely has some power to it. No issues there.The media baskets are super thin plastic and feel cheap. The bio balls they give with it are pretty much garbage.They don’t provide any clips to hold the intake and out take tube’s in place on the rim of the tank. Just some suction cups that you can use on the inside of the tank, and I suppose you could use them in the outside aswell if you don’t have a background on the outside of the glass.It would be nice if they includes not just a spray bar, but also an adjustable out take nozzle.I’ve only have it for a week, so we’ll see if it holds up and doesn’t leak. Overall for the price, it’s decent and does what it’s supposed to.

This pump works by siphoning water from the tank then pumping back into tank after going through the filtering process. I found this pump udderly useless it would stop siphoning randomly, I would wake up in the morning and find it not working. I agree with one of the other reviews the tubing is too big and thick they don’t have to be that thick. If the designers went back and used smaller and thinner hoses they would likely find it would work 10 times better. JMOThe pump was returned and I went back to my trusty filter. Personally I say do your research and make your decision. It works for some people and a totally useless for others.
