The lights make a huge difference!
These dog nail clippers by Taruphic are solidly made and high quality. They are very sharp and smoothly spring back open in your hand while using them. The handles are made of strong plastic, and the mechanism at the swivel joint glides open and shut.The clipper has a sleek design and some serious weight to it. It feels like it will last. The motor for the sander at the other end is very quiet and withstands adequate pressure without slowing down the spin. Lights on both ends are nothing less than awesome. Itâs rechargeable via USB.I got these large Taruphic clippers because both my dogs are over 50 lbs, one with tough nails. This tool is really big and would likely cut the thickest nails. I used the clipper on my smaller bully dog who fears the clip, and he tolerated it well. The directed light at the business end of the clipper makes a huge difference in avoiding the quick. The 360 light at the sander end automatically turns on with the motor. Thereâs a three position switch that controls which end powers on: clipper, off, or sander.This large clipper provides leverage for super easy opening and closing of the handles. You donât need strength to close them but if you’ve got smaller hands youâll need a good grip. It feels a bit cumbersome in my medium sized hand (7.5â circumference), making the handles difficult to manipulate in use. See my photos of the tool in my hand. I have trouble wrapping my fingers around their wide span and my hand tends to slip on the satin smooth finish. Wearing nitrile gloves would likely help keep them from slipping.Cons? It comes with two plastic caps neither of which stay on. Iâve had the tool for a day and Iâve already lost one of them, a trivial concern. It comes with a charging cable but not a power adapter.Overall, this is a five star product. It does what it advertises. My dog recommends it.

Works well with a little patience
I used this tool during our usual âgrooming timeâ . The clipper feels sturdy, and the size fits my hand well, but it isnât the smoothest on thicker nails. Iâve ended up using the grinder first to take down some of the bulk, then clipping, and finishing again with the grinder so the edges look clean. It is easy to use but takes a little longer this way, but it keeps him comfortable. The LED lights actually help more than I expected, especially on his darker paws where itâs harder to see the quick. The noise of the grinder is pretty soft, so he doesnât flinch or pull back. I was able to finish all four paws in about twenty minutes, and the battery still had plenty left. Itâs useful if youâre willing to take it slow.

Overcame my fears and saved some time and money doing it myself
Weâve been paying to have our dogs nails clipped at the grooming shop for the last few years because I was nervous about doing it myself. Well, after getting over the fear of hurting my dog I gave these a try. Itâs really not that hard to do. The light helps to identify where the nerve is and I just clip a small length at a time until I get to the desired length keeping an eye on the color change in the cut end of the nail. As far as the grinding wheel, my dog really doesnât like the way it feels and she pulls away so we donât use that function, at least not for now. We will try again in time and eventually we are hoping she will adjust to it. All-in-all it has saved us money and time. Happy with the item.
