Kind Dog Shares His Meat Bun with a Hungry Stray Cat

On an ordinary day, Ms. Fu was downstairs working when she heard Pudding barking near the top of the steps. Curious about what was going on, she glanced over and noticed something odd. “I was working downstairs that day when I heard our dog barking at the top of the steps,” Fu recalled to The Paper, a Chinese media outlet, as reported by LADbible. “When I looked over, I saw it going to its kennel to fetch its meat bun, then it barked again.”

But Pudding wasn’t barking for no reason—there was a stray cat sitting quietly on the steps. What followed was a moment Ms. Fu hadn’t expected: Pudding took his meat bun and placed it gently in front of the stray cat. At first, Ms. Fu worried that this might be a trick, fearing her dog was trying to provoke the stray into a fight over food.

However, her concern quickly faded when she realized what was really happening. Pudding wasn’t trying to start a fight—he was trying to help. He backed off, giving the nervous cat space to approach the bun. “The cat was scared and wouldn’t come down the steps, so our dog stood back and kept its distance, allowing the cat to approach,” Ms. Fu explained.

The cautious stray eventually mustered up the courage to come down, take the offered food, and leave, no longer hungry. The entire event touched Ms. Fu deeply, especially since Pudding is a guard dog who normally guards his food fiercely. “I was very touched by the moment, because our dog is a guard dog, and usually very protective of its food,” she shared.

Ms. Fu captured the touching scene on video, and since then, Pudding’s compassionate gesture has gone viral, warming hearts across the globe.
