This is a game changer!
This vacuum has been a game changer! When my husband decided to get an aquarium, I thought it was a wise idea to get my own. Little did I know how much goes into fish keeping. We eventually upgraded to 55 gallon tanks & the water changes were a lot of work. This works great to vacuum, although larger gravel does tend to get stuck. I ended up switching to fine sand & it has been easy to vacuum. Now we are able to do vacuuming on maintenance weeks instead of having to refill since it recycles the water into the tank. We also use it to pump water from the 5 gallon buckets that we fill & set on the floor into the tank, instead of having to lift the buckets up & dump. My husband is able to clean & do 75% water changes on both over 55 gallons in under 45 minutes now. Have been it for about 7 months now. One time the motor seemed to be going but my husband took it apart, fooled around with it & it was like new. Very easy to clean it, also. Highly recommend.

Will not suck sand despite advertisment
Not even 30 seconds of use out of this product. Sister tried using it on her gravel tank and gave up; it wouldn’t suck with her gravel. I tried using it on my tank of sand. Sucked up then got clogged as soon as it hit the filter. After trying every head, I went back to the first because it lasted the longest before clogging(like 15 seconds, but I was desperate to get this tank cleaned). The pump gave up before I could get it to the sand. Just stopped sucking. Water didn’t even make it to the second filter and hose. Tried emptying every filter again and even tried a different outlet. Tried tilting the wand so it didn’t have very high to get it to the second filter; it didn’t even have enough suction to make it those few inches. Overall, turning it on just made it vibrate. Don’t buy. I guess I’m going back to a manual pump. Those work way better and much more reliable. Useless.

Great purchase for tall tanks.
Cleaning a tall 65 gallon tank was not easy until now!It’s pretty easy to put together and as long as you tighten it enough so that the rubber gaskets catch well there should not be any leaking. I had originally used all four extensions because I honestly thought I was going to need all four of them. In the end I really only needed two and the part where the recycler goes into. I used the sand cleaning extension to clean the gravel in this tank and it did a great job.The part that repumps the water back in after cleaning could have been a little bit better because it was still a lot of stuff going back into the tank after I was done vacuuming the bottom. So what I did to help with this was I cut a piece of aquarium floss and put it in between the two layers of carbon and that helped catch a lot more debris. It did however make it so that it was pulling up a few of my plants because the pressure changed.I also did a small water change of a 5 gallon bucket and pumping the water out was good, but I got a bit distracted and ended up with a little bit of water on my floor because I was not keeping a very close eye on the level of the bucket as it was pumping. It pumped out the 5 gallons of water in less than 5 minutes and I honestly thought it was going to take longer than that. Even though I had clicked the off switch it still continue to pump water for a few seconds due to gravity and that’s how I ended up with water on the floor.Once I clean that up I filled my bucket up with water and added my dechlorinator and then put the pump in the bucket and the hose in the tank and pumping the water back up to the tank was fantastic! Didn’t hurt my back having to manually scoop water from the bucket to the tank and it was less stressful for all my tank inhabitants.I’ve already recommended this to two people and really hope that they are interested in getting one because it was fantastic to use.Only negative thing I will say is I do wish that the power switch was in a different position because it did make it a little bit harder to try to find to click it off when my bucket was overflowing.

I love this vac. After reading some reviews and seeing some about how parts donât fit, I donât think they used the adapter that goes on after the main vac portion first or something. Everything works and fits perfectly on mine! Thereâs a ton of attachments for multiple uses. Itâs pretty powerful.I have a 36 gal bow front Neo shrimp tank and a 55gal turtle tank.The only room for improvement Iâve noticed is that it would be better if there was some kind of power level control.-In my shrimp tank, I have fluval stratum substrate, which I donât recommend vacuuming 𤣠I keep it about an inch or two away and itâs powerful enough to not suck it up but any dead roots/waste off the top layer. If I use the vacuum and the recycle water feature, (not doing a water change) the water coming back into the tank comes back pretty hard and clouds everything up. Doing water changes to/from my 5gal bucket is a game changer though! Again, a little too powerful for shooting water back into the tank. So what I did is attached the recycle water outlet to the black refill hose, with the filters still inside. I donât think they intended it for this, but it really helps soften the blow and not disturb my substrate! See picture.For my turtle tank. I have larger rocks, easy to clean. Again, the recycling vacuum is a little overpowering and clouds up the tank though. Just like my other tank, being as tall as it is, I would think I wouldnât have much of an issue. I did shorten it a little to get it closer to the water top, but didnât help much.The filters also can get clogged with turtle sludge pretty quick. While it creates a few extra steps in cleaning out those parts, still does a great job and faster than my syphon hose vac. Refilling is also a breeze. I donât use my softening method as the bottom has 2in River rock and doesnât fall apart like stratum4/5 stars mainly because the lack of power control. I donât think itâs that good for the recycle vac option, but for the price and functionality of its other features itâs great! I love mine and all my other hygger products. Best bang for your buck!

This pump works great for my 20 gallon tank, I’m able to do water changes in about half the time it normally takes me. I did seem to get a faulty pump first, as it stopped working after 2 months of using it once a week. I contacted the seller and they assisted me right away and sent me a new one. I received the new pump within 2 days of contacting and showing them that the pump did not work. This will be a game changer for my 65 gallon tank when I set it up and I highly recommend it!

Nice powerful pump. Can Drain 25 gallons in about 8-10 minutes. I attached a 25 foot hose to mine and put the end in my laundry tub to drain. If you use a bucket make sure you have the off switch in your hand otherwise you will overflow. The cleaning tools are good, but I have a sand substrate and this pump does not like that. I need to clean it out frequently because sand gets into the unit and stops. I only use the pump to rapid drain and not clean in this tank.

The idea is that it will pump the water and you can clean the gravel as it does so. Two things happen:1. suction filer and other filter don’t do a great job of filter minute particles, so if you pumping the water back into the tank, it becomes cloudy.2. Filter becomes clogged quickly and loose functionalityHowever if you remove the filter and then pump the water out as you are cleaning the gravel this works great. I then just clean the pumped water with coffee filter or just replace it with fresh water.
