Nice Basic Kit With Everything You Need
This is such a nice little grooming kit. I wish I could say I got this for my kid to use to learn to groom her pony, but nope. I got it for myself because 1. I love the color, and 2. my horse is a spoiled princess. I don’t show her, or compete, she’s just my really expensive giant puppy who follows me around the yard begging for carrots and scritches, living her best life.I don’t need any professional equipment to keep her maintained, so this kit is perfect. It has everything I need, it’s inexpensive, and comes with a mesh bag to keep everything organized. She loves the brushes and will stand there until my arms fall off brushing her, if I let her. I added pictures of everything included. As you can see, this isn’t top of the line equipment, but has everything you, or your kid, would need to get the job done. I’m happy with it!

Starter Kit, Modest but Good Quality, Good Price
The first thing to know about this item is that it is a pretty complete kit — adequate, usable, modest quality — but pretty complete. For a new equestrian it would be a good way to learn about a variety of grooming tools, and develop one’s own preferences.When it comes to equestrian grooming gear , however, and what is useful or preferred the two most important factors are your personal preference, and what your horse tolerates or prefers. Then one can get into high-and-higher end manufacture (and brand names) where one brush can cost much more than this entire kit.But as a fairly complete starter kit, with all the basics, this is a good deal.Because there is so much personal preference involved, some may view some of the plastic-based and man-made brush fibers askance; this kit does not purport to fulfill a high-end niche, but does what it does quite well.

I liked these since purple is my horses color. I thought this way if I leave a brush or comb out at the stable, folks will know who it belongs to.

Basic Starter Kit with average grade tools
Basic starter kit for a new horse owner. As an experienced horse owner (over 63 years), comments reflect what I consider is the plus and minus of the different components:1. The net bag is a good way to store items that can get wet; items can dry between use and dirt can work its way out thru the mesh. The color of the webbing is a deep lavender and is uniform (not sure why the pictures turned out with two different colors). It is big enough to hold all of the grooming tools with room to spare. The inside seams are well finished and the handle is attached with a reinforced style to improve strength. The side webbing layer is stitched to make pockets. The stitching was not well reinforced at the ends and there were several long thread ends which gave it an untidy look. I will be reinforcing the end of the stitching and clipping threads before I donate this set for a fundraiser.2. A couple of items were included that if the set is given to a child or an inexperienced adult, the proper use needs to be explained as they can cause scratching of a horse’s sensitive skin. These include the course nylon brush and the metal curry comb. Personally, I will not use metal curry combs or nylon brushes (unless very soft) on my horses. They need to be used with a very soft hand and not for general grooming. If I was giving this to a child, I would substitute a soft bristle brush. The included rubber curry brush does a good job removing mud and dirt, no harsh metal teeth needed!3. Hoof pick/brush great for cleaning hooves.4. Rubber curry comb is sized well for a child’s hand, although adults can use it as well.5. Tail brush good for removing tangles and separating hair. Rubberized grip helps keeping ahold of it, especially if combing out a wet tail.6. Sweat scraper – the rubber side is great for removing excess water when bathing a horse. the plastic tooth side is again something in the wrong hands could scratch a horse’s skin.7. Soft nylon brush: Sized so easy for child to use but an adult can also use it. Softer bristles make it kinder for the horse’s skin. Webbing handle is attached to wood base with tacks.8. Sponge – basic sponge. Arrived with areas imprinted from pressure of other items packed next to it. These will disappear with use. Nice size for child’s hand.9. Two combs for mane and tail. Short toothed comb has a rubberized handle to help maintain grip but the end of the teeth are sharp. I would round these off a little to prevent breaking of hair or scratching horse’s skin. The long tooth comb’s teeth are rounded and smoother to the touch.Items are coordinated in purple. The types and quality of items included are typical for this type of kit in this price range. Not all items are the best to use on horses due to the sharpness of the tool, but depending on the age and experience of the receiver (or the knowledge of people assisting them in their journey with horses) it has some good basic items to get one started.

Convenient & Does the Job
Nobody is going to mistake these tools for high-end construction horse accessories, but they do get the job done. The set has a nice variety of commonly used horse grooming tools, and it is very convenient to grab and go and get to work on the horse. Each tool is designed to work properly, and they are durable enough. So, with appropriate care and handling, they should last for quite a while. The mesh bag holds everything with some room to spare. I like the mesh because if it gets wet, it dries quickly. The purple trim is a good addition, especially since it is my favorite color. Overall, I do recommend this set of economical horse grooming tools. It is nice to have everything needed at hand in a single bag.
