    Works for DTPA Iron Chelate
Measures DTPA and EDTA chelated Iron in my freshwater planted aquarium, however you need to wait for a few hours for the color to become visible, because the chelation agents bind the iron, making it difficult to measure with a test kit. I didn’t know if it would work, but it does!

    well water iron
used this to test the Iron in our well water to make sure that the iron filter is working well . Works great and there is enough to do dozens of tests. Quick and easy to use with good instructions.

    Not reliable
I use all of the seachem line for my freshwater aquarium. But I can not reccomend this test because it doesn’t work. No matter how much iron I added it always stayed clear and after testing after 30 min of dosing iron to my tank I knew something wasn’t right so the next time I did it after 10 min. I even tried after an hour but it always showed 0. I thought I just had to be using it wrong but no matter how many times I reread the directions it never changed. I bought another highly rated test (starts with a S) and it showed I had 1+ iron while you can see in my photo the seachem one shows 0! Save yourself a headache and a waste of $20 and don’t buy this one.

OK, but not easy to read
The test kit works as intended, but is quite hard to get accurate readings. The color distinctions at low levels are rather hard to distinguish (and low levels are what probably the majority of people have, i.e. those using low-tech tanks and dosing). Testing simultaneously for chelated and non-chelated is good, but the idea of reading one after a few minutes and one after 45 is confusing. Perhaps all this is driven simply by chemistry, but it is an issue. I would have rated this lower except they put in a calibration sample, which is useful. It would have been more helpful if they had a chelated and non-chelated sample.

    Difficult to Use
We had been having problems with our planted aquarium, and thought that iron deficiency might be the cause. Not being chemistry scientists or lab techs, we found the instructions difficult to interpret. We prepared the iron reference solution to ensure we could get proper results, and were successful. But there were unfamiliar terms in the instructions. Is our iron chelated or not? Do we measure immediately after adding iron supplement? Doesn’t sound right, but the instructions warn that iron is quickly absorbed. The waiting time for the test is very long. Then the color changes are so subtle that it is difficult to determine the proper levels.PRO: Does what it is advertised to do – measure iron.CON: The process is lengthy and instructions contain unfamiliar terms. I only ran the test once.

Worked for me 60% of the time everytime
I was sceptic about buying this product there are many Negative reviews. This test worked for me immediately out of the Box if you are having trouble with the test sampl. Try using the bigger samples, I feel that some of you may have an issue with this because iron levels are so low in your sample they do not register therefore you think it does not work.

Pienamente soddisfatto.
