My filter system is a aquatec 30-60. When you buy the filters of the same brand you can be assured that they will fit properly and that they will properly filter your aquarium water. The problem with comparable products from my experience is they seem to have some sort of little quirk that causes them to not do the same job as a brand name. The filters in my aquarium are good for about a month before I have to change them, alot of this is going to depend on how many fish you have and how much you feed them. I always purchase a 6 pack of filters so they are on hand when it is time to change them and reorder when I use the last filters in the package. I am not going to kid you as you can if you want get them for a little less money from a big box store. I myself buy alot of items from amazon, Why? Because sometimes it is cheaper and there are other times when a item is a little bit more. But stop and think about it by the time you figure in your gas and time interacting with the big box store you are paying close to the same price, lets face it gas is not cheeap these days and your time has become a commodity. You also need to remember there are several different delivery options available to needing the item right away or in a few days which usually results in free shipping. I am satisfied with the product and the job it does, the cost is usually competative when I figure in the aforementioned factors and I am always ready for the next filter change.

Beast filters are easy easy to use, work great, and are easy to clean mid-cycle with a faucet spray. The price for the package of six is the best Iâve found, and for my 55 gallon tank, they last three months (our aquarium specialist recommends changing monthly).

Easy to change, does what it should.
They do the job – they filter out solids and the activated charcoal catches other things and gases that are in the water. It’s easy to replace. Just a side note, you need not replace this filter element all the time – you can take it out and rinse it under the faucet and put it back in for a while longer. Doing so will also keep some of the fish tank’s bacterial ‘life’ in place, and your fish need that.

Perfect fit for my 30-60 filter system. They work great.Okay, now that no one is listening; I rinse them out once every week or 3, depending on how many fish I have. Also, you can cut the filter material at the top and wash the old charcoal out of the filter, about every month or 3, depending on how many fish I/you have (notice a pattern here?). I do it outside with a water hose and after about 3 years I had this distinct ½ to 1 inch wide, black trim at the edge of my sidewalk. I like it.Do NOT use high pressure to rinse the filter or flush out the charcoal. A nice ½ inch flow, dropped through the black plastic from a height of about 6 to 10 inches cleans it nicely and it helps keep the material in shape. It WILL disintegrate if you use too much pressure.I replace the original activated charcoal with about 2 to 3 tablespoons of fresh charcoal from my bulk container. I’ve found Marineland ® premium, 10 oz. (283 g), lasts me about 3 years with my 55 Gal. tank (wait for it) depending on how many fish are in my tank and I usually have too many. I can also find it online, at ¼ of the price as the pet/land type places sell comparable charcoal for. Unless it gets wet, activated charcoal wonât degrade.I hope I’ve made my point and enjoy your fish. I do!.

Very happy with this product. It, of course, needs to be thoroughtly rinsed before you put it into the filter. Cleans the water to a crystal clear condition. Happy with the price as it beats WalMart except that they do not carry it anymore. But that is the problem with WalMart. One minute they have tons, but then they stop carrying it. I really like this filter so I don’t want to replace it just for the fact that I can’t get the proper size filter.
