hygger Water Wave Pump

UNIQUE CROSS FLOW TECHNOLOGY – Compared to traditional wave makers, this cross flow pumps generate soft waves and the waves are spread 360 degrees. It creates a water flow similar to real ocean, activates the water in the entire tank, eliminates dead spots, and creates a beautiful fish gathering shape
🐠INTELLIGENT LED CONTROLLER – With LED display controller, you can set it to different modes to simulate natural living environment 1) 5 wave modes available – pulse wave, sine wave, constant wave, random wave, cross flow wave; 2) 30-100 flow rate levels options; 3) 30-100 frequency levels options; 4) feeding mode; 5) night mode; 6) linkage mode
🐠PATTERN WAVE EFFECT – The hygger aquarium wave pump can be installed at different positions in the fish tank to achieve different effects. 1. Installed on the upper side of the fish tank, different wave shapes can be seen; 2. Installed in the middle of the fish tank, you can see a continuous stream of small bubbles, simulating the effect of the ocean. 3. Installed at the bottom of the fish tank, it can blow away debris, remove accumulated water, and keep the tank clean
🐠SUPER SILENT WAVE MAKER – Safe 24V DC powered controllable wavemaker that uses sine wave control technology to quietly transport circulating water, with almost no sound heard during operation. Its powerful magnetic base allows the pump to be easily and freely positioned, tank thickness up to 1/2″
🐠SUITABLE FOR FISH TANKS UP TO 135 GALLONS: 8.5 inches long, 2 inches diameter, maximum power: 18W, maximum flow rate: 1850 GPH, suitable for up to 135 gallons of freshwater and marine aquariums. Its rotatable head generates waves from multiple directions, making it perfect for creating a natural environment for aquatic organisms.

Customers say

Customers give positive feedback about the water pump’s flow, with one noting how it helps gorgonians thrive in high flow conditions, and appreciate its customization options with plenty of settings. The functionality and noise level receive mixed reviews – while some say it works well and is extremely quiet, others report it stops working after a minute and becomes extremely noisy. The quality, value for money, and water movement aspects also get mixed reactions, with some finding it a good value while others consider it a waste of money, and some praising its power while others find it too strong for 50-gallon tanks.

Great, but to strong for my 50 gallon.
Worked great, but unfortunatly was to strong for my 50 gallon tank. I loved the options and really tried to make it work. If your tank is larger than 50 gallons probably will work great, but was to strong for my soft corals in my 50.

Easy to clean and works great
After less than a month of using this wave maker, it became very noisy. It was making a loud hum that I can hear down the hall. Very annoying.Update: After leaving my initial noisy review, Hygger support reached out with instructions on how to disassemble and clean the wave maker. After disassembly, which was pretty easy, I found my fish had gotten some small rocks stuck in the mechanism that was causing the noise. Once cleaned, the noise disappeared. Updating review to five stars because pump is great when periodically cleaned and support was responsive too.

Trash, save money, buy something better.
Ive had hygger products before and I will say you get what you pay for. I’ve given them plenty of chance and once again I get a cheaply made, trash product. I opened the box and first think I realized was how flimsy it was, I rinsed it off with freshwater then installed into tank, plugged it in and immediately hear I high pitched almost squealing sound, within seconds I get a “ER04” error with states it’s an obstruction. It’s brand new and has nothing obstructing anything. I take it back out of the tank and look into it. The gyre spins pretty freely. I put it back in and repeat, same thing. Like I said I have given their products multiple chances and this one fails immediately. Some of their wavemakers lasted a few months before failure. Beware of this product from hygger and if you can avoid the company period. Spend a few more dollars and get a maxpect, or tunze or ai.

    Needs Guard Cover
I’ve been using the Hygger wavemaker for several weeks now, and I can confidently say it’s a powerful, affordable flow solution for mid-sized reef tanks like my 60-gallon setup. The adjustable speeds and directional flow give great flexibility, and it’s been effective in reducing dead zones and keeping detritus suspended. However, I want to strongly caution fellow reef keepers—this wavemaker absolutely needs a protective guard if you’re keeping anemones or small fish. Due to my own oversight, I lost a small clownfish and two Bubble Tip Anemones after they were drawn into the exposed intake. It was preventable, and I take full responsibility for not installing a mesh guard sooner.Anemones are notorious for wandering, and without a barrier, even a gentle wavemaker can become deadly. Hygger does not currently include or offer an anemone-safe cover, which is something I hope they consider in future designs or as an add-on.✔️ Pros:• Strong, reliable flow• Affordable price point• Easy to install and adjust• Quiet operation overall❗️Caution:• Not safe for tanks with anemones or small fish unless you DIY or buy a guard• No included protection against livestock entrapmentWith the right precautions (like adding a mesh or 3D-printed guard), this is a great wavemaker. Just don’t make the same mistake I did—protect your livestock first.

    All around solid product
Product works as described. I already had quite a bit of flow in my 75 gallon African cichlid tank, (FX4, Sicce Eko 300 canister filters, and two fluval wave makers) I moved my bigger wave maker down to the bottom on the opposite side of the Hygger crossflow pump and the amount of stuff that was kicked up from my substrate was unreal.I enjoy the different pump settings and variable speed. Hopefully with regular cleanings and maintenance i can continue to have another solid Hygger product!

    Returned malfunctioning unit
Returned due to not functioning properly. Made a loud grinding sound. Impeller would stick at low flow as well. Opened it up and looked at all the parts and could find nothing obstructing the impellers or shaft. Maybe I got a dud?

Great bang for the buck! Buy it now!
I bought one of these to try out in my mixed reef tank in Sept 2023. Found I liked it so much I bought a second in Nov 2023 and got rid of the Hydor Koralia circulation pumps in my tank (it is now Mar 2025). These are simple to set up, mount with strong magnets, and you can slave the two together if you want. Flow rate is adjustable as well as the frequency presets for wave making. I have one at each end of my tank aimed at the other, but each is set differently to promote random flows. The construction is very good and I found they even have ceramic shafts for the pump impellers to spin on. These were less than 50% of the cost of similar “name brand” ones sold in the US market (that are probably made in China as well). I am very happy with these and they are a good buy.

I got this wavemaker due to having a large tank and needed more control of speed, and when I get it under 100 pounds, I’ve never looked at another wavemaker since. Most of the time I have it on the speed between lowest of 30 to 70 but don’t use the 100 unless I am cleaning left over food or waste getting caught by obstacles in the tank.

I purchased this wavemaker for my 90 gal tropheus tank . The wavemaker arrived on time and in good quality. Have had it set up and running now for 2 months . This unit works great ,easy set up with several control modes. With proper settings the unit keeps the tank substrate clear on debris . Also keeps the tropheus occupied and reduces aggressions . Lots of water flow, quiet operation, no suction cups to fail ,and hides well in the tank .

Needed to buy a power adapter for Australian use which is not mentioned in the listing and cost an extra $19.00. Have not been able to use it yet.

I do not recommend it. The writing on the controller is not lit up. You can hardly see the mode button etc. couldn’t even read it with a magnifying glass.
