We have extraordinarily hard water. When testing for the fish, it was off the scale. The municipality rates it as 180ppm. This is very hard (and expensive) on appliances. I have brand new plumbing in the bathroom and after 1 month of use, I can see the lime already building up. We have a tankless hot water heater; the coil sprang a massive leak a few days ago, flooding the basement. I have no doubt that a root cause is the hard water.I saw these units on Amazon, while looking at reverse osmosis systems. I went online and found 4 studies that indicate that they’re quite effective. I don’t expect a miracle and I don’t expect soft water. I would like the calcium and magnesium to be within an acceptable range.As a biochemist, I understand how this would work. We will have to see what happens. Since I just received the unit yesterday, I will update my review.I think it’s important to point out that there are explicit instructions based on water flow direction, so I followed the directions to a “t”. I also made sure that where it plugs in, gets constant power. Many of our outlets turn off with the light switch.The installation was easy. I made sure of the direction of each lead, and made sure that they were wound tightly, before plugging in.I will update this in about a month.

Descaler Box rattles?
Is this thing supposed to rattle? When the box came, it rattled and it was inside the descaler? This thing shouldnât be rattling around, should it? Problem is, I wonât know if the thing is working or not will I?

De-scalers work great but not in all areas.
Several companies sell this inder different names and this one was the least expensive of them. I havenât owned this long enough to say how reliable this model is. The Eddy brand is great and has excellent customer service and a life time warranty but this should let you know if it works for your location and if it does then itâs well worth buying. Give it a month or two to see.

Quick failure, no customer support.
Bought and Installed my unit in late April.Donât know when it failed, but just noticed it yesterday, after only 5 months in service.Lights are not moving at all. Two lights are constantly illuminated. Doesnât seem to be working either.Only could ask a question which I did, asking for replacement or refund but no response and no Customer Service seems to be available.

Easy install, will provide update on whether device actually worksAfter 6 Weeks of USE I’m extremely impressed. When I purchased my rural property over 8 years ago, I noticed water had an odd odor and “say the least” an ugly taste (almost like well water). I had been debating on whether to install a water softener.Calcium build-up not longer occurring on shower heads and spigots. I tested both hot & cold water, using testing strips, prior to installation of device and over the following weeks. The high mineral content has reduced significantly since installation, along with no odor and water tastes good.Highly recommend this device, particularly if ya live in rural area.

Easy installation
Having extremely hard water can be a challenge and ruin your appliances. Trying a more proactive approach to cutting back on the hardness of the water. I’m using this for my bar’s bathroom along with a tankless water heater. The design is sleek. Installation was super easy. Since it can take awhile to really “see” the difference, I installed a few months ago and the product seems to be doing the job. Happy with my purchase.

Severe power output issues.
This is the 2nd purchase so far. And the descaler is already defective after 3days. There’s a serious power issue with this product
