Perfect for our little burrowing pet snake.
I have never been disappointed with this Aspen snake bedding. We have a small Western hognose snake who is a burrower. He loves making new tunnels in his terrarium with this bedding. This bedding keeps the terrarium nice and dry, preventing any type of mildew buildup from spilled water or other waste.We have been using this same Aspen bedding from Zoo Med since we first got our snake. It is recommended to change the bedding every 30-60 days, but if you are cleaning up your pet’pets waste it usually lasts much longer than that. This bedding does not have a strong smell. It is a bit dusty when you first pour it into the terrarium, but it settles almost immediately. Every time we purchase new bedding for our pet, he spends long hours making new tunnels and seems to enjoy it.We feed our snake in his tank using tongs and have never had any problems with him swallowing any of the bedding. I would just say to always be cautious of this, but we have never had any issues with that.I highly recommend this Zoo Med aspen snake bedding for anyone who has a burrowing snake set up in a terrarium.

The Best for Plant Mulch and Soil Amendment
I actually buy this for amending my soil to be more breathable for the roots while absorbing moisture, less watering, less chace of root rot, and it is all natural, and plenty in quatity for the price. And also acid-loving plants like it in the log run as it is wood, and will release tannins when decomposing. It is typically good for plants, as lower pH means better nutrient uptake (supplement with calcium also if possible, look up chicken grit).But I use it for all of my indoor and outdoor plants, especially for those that like a loamy soil too. Works for multiple uses.

Great for most reptiles!
Aspen fiber is one of the go to substrates for most reptiles. It’s dust free and absorbent so clean up is simple. It also hold its shape well for burrowing species. Zoo Med makes many wonderful products, including aspen fiber bedding.

It has been about 7 years that I have been using Zoo Med Aspen bedding and I won’t any other brand. I think I tried 2 others when I wasn’t able to get this brand and it was not pleasant. I have never had an issue with this brand and I love it for my snake. It’s the absolute best in my honest opinion. Just make sure you get enough. I was revamping my tank with a moist moss zone and got the smaller 8qt bag which is still a lot but my snake likes to tunnel so I need to order some more. I think I will continue to get the 20 bag instead. I would highly recommend Zoo Meds Aspen bedding.

I found that I had missed giving this a review. I used to buy this in the huge brown bags as I used to own East Coast Pythons & Reptiles & I went through a LOT of different brands & settled on this as my favorite of any of the Aspen beddings. There’s a very light, clean natural scent that I found pleasant & one that’s naturally supposed to be there. The chunks & pieces are perfect sized & nothing too sharp to hurt your pet or any useless pieces that you need to take out. It’s absorbent & soft & very little if any dust. It’s also easy for your pet to work with in making it’s own paths or bed & The larger the bag you buy the better the price which really helped me out so if you like this one definitely take advantage of that deal!

Aspen bedding
I buy aspen bedding for my California kingsnake since itâs the recommended bedding (google what type of bedding your snake breed needs). Itâs a light color which makes it easy to find poops and spot clean. I try to change out all of the bedding every month or so for sanitary reasons. However if she makes a mess in her water bowl and water goes everywhere, the aspen bedding doesnât really dry back out after a long soak. If itâs a substantial amount of water you should take the wet clump out. I was at petco today to buy a feeder mouse and checked the price of this bedding, $22. On amazon I paid $11 for my 24 size bag. That speaks for itself on value. If aspen bedding is what you need for your pet this is the best price and value you will find hands down.
