(Update) Clear plastic broke after a few months
This feeder worked well for two months, then I noticed the clear plastic sheet was starting to craze or crack. This morning (four months since purchasing), the plastic broke and fell out. It can no longer hold any seed. I am not sure who to contact to see if the plastic is replaceable. The rest of the feeder is solid and works well.We live in a temperate climate where the temp rarely gets below freezing. So Iâm not sure if I just got a bad unit or if this is a common problem.Addendum â¦.I got a speedy response from the sellers, whom have reassured me that the clear more durable and robust panel has been replaced in the model that they sell now. They gave me a full refund and I will be getting the new feeder. It is a great feeder. After adjusting the distance of the feeder from the hanging post as recommended by the company, I have not had a single problem with the squirrels even though they check it out everyday. Our feeder has three to four birds on it at any given time from sun up to sun down. Sometimes needing to competitively defend their perch with a display of ruffled wings and beak play.Evening grosbeaks, black headed grosbeaks, (and their fledglings) redwing black birds, golden finches, stellar and scrub jays, black head towee, chickadees, nuthatches, and pine siskins are vying for a spot all day long. It is busy – I have to fill it every three days. So I look forward to the replacement feeder. With a reliable clear panel, it should last many seasons.

Great bird feeder.
Well made birdfeeder. Easy to fill. Birds love it…..so far, no squirrels!. They used to dump all the seed from my old feeder then hop down and eat it!. Loving the new feeder.

Excellent Design
I waited to write my review. Iâve been feeding birds (and squirrels ð) for about 20 years. This is a really good squirrel proof feeder. It had been well-designed in that when it rains, the water does not run down into the feed (extra points for that!) It runs over the feeder! Also, should it somehow get knocked off the pole, the lid is designed to screw down so that the lid does not come off. Therefore, it prevents all the bird seed from spilling out onto the ground. NO FEEDING FRENZY FOR THE SQUIRRELS!!!! It holds a generous amount of seeds, nuts, berries, etc. I have cardinals, nuthatches, titmouses, plenty of larger birds at this feeder. I highly recommend this purchase.

Great feeder! Not so great single cable hanger.
The bird feeder works as advertised. Closing perches can be adjusted via springs next to the hinge. I have mine set to the lightest setting. The perches stay open with finches and other birds of the same size. However, the perches almost completely close when female grackles attempt to feed; somewhat of a deterrent to their greediness tendencies. There is a squirrel that would decimate the seeds in my old feeder but I have yet to see the animal attempt to steal seeds from this one.My only gripe with this feeder, which is why I only gave it 4 stars, is the single cable hanger. Any slight breeze will make the feeder twist and oscillate to where the birds wonât land on the perches. I used nylon string to stabilize the feeder from spinning (pictured).Great feeder otherwise. Solid construction. Great value for the money.

Wonderful bird feeder with an excellent squirrel deterrent.
Took a while for the birds to find it…but once they did (first the cardinals and then the rest) they’ve been enjoying it tremendously.I set the one side for the heavier birds (bluejays, cardinals, etc.) to enjoy…and the other side for the smaller birds. Luckily, the two creatures who still haven’t figured it out are the squirrels and racoons. It closes on their approach. And that gives this product high marks from me!

Hard for birds
This bird feeder keeps squirrel out but if the food gets wet it is hard to get out for the birds and I have tried to break it up but it just jammed and birds stoped coming to it. It looks nice but needs bigger openingsIâm now outside of return window or I would exchange it.

Who’da thunk it….???
Well, it does say… squirrel proof. Not bigger, smart bird proof.I can’t address squirrels, high up here in the mountains of Alaska, owls, hawks and other critters, seem to keep the squirrel population at a minimum. What I can address is…… this feeder does NOT keep larger birds from landing and eating the feeder dry, within a few hours. Just like a little squirrel would do. And, larger scavenger birds are just as much a problem (more so) as squirrels are in other states. How you might ask??? read on…Promptly filled it with hulled sunflower seeds, assorted chopped dried fruits, nuts and suet “pebbles”. Was late and already dusk so I figured I’d see no action till morning.Well…. I did….. lots of action… next morning the feeder was surrounded by Grey Jays, and Black Billed Magpies… all happily and quickly, emptying out the very expensive food. The weight adjustment was of no help in this instance. At any setting, the bar closes off the feeder ports, just fine… so then, just HOW did this prevent them from pigging out? It didn’t.They just perched, feeder ports close, so they insert their beaks UNDER the closed panel and lifted it up. Up and down the bar and the birds went, as the birds lifted the “cover”, with them bouncing up and down each time. While up, they get a goodie.. sit back.. eat.. lift, sit back eat.. Bird after bird… land, lift, eat……Oh well…I’m sure it works as intended for smaller birds, but… if you have smart Jays or other larger “piggy” (scavenger type) birds… I don’t know how this would work for you.Squirrels are super smart and if a bird can figure how to lift the panel to get at the food… A squirrel with it’s little “hands”… will have no problem putting two and two together… just use my paw to hold panel up… aka… food access.Shipped promptly and seems to be made well… worry about the plastic panels. Don’t know how brittle the panels will become in 20+ below 0 temps…. might reinforce/cover the clear panels, with tape before deep winter sets in. I fear the slightest pressure will cause them to break or shatter when super cold.Hope you have fun… I did, watching the Jays and Magpies….bouncing up and down, while eating all the expensive food…

Bought for Dad. Bright color and made well. So far it really has kept the squirrels out.
