Run on drill batteries with adapter
I can run my Starlink mini on a drill battery by using this plugged into an adapter the converts my 18v batteries to a 12v cigarette lighter/power port pigtail.I already had the battery adapter, so this is all I needed to be able to easily turn my Starlink mini back on and have internet when the power is out.I can also plug it into one of the vehicle power ports, which is the assumed use of this, I believe?We also have a generator, which has a 12v power port for this to plug directly into.There’s another scheduled outage coming up three days from now, and I know that my aging mom will have everything she needs and wants to keep things as normal for her as they can be.My mom’s TV and laptop both require internet, and if either of those aren’t available whenever she goes to use them, it’s upsetting for her. She’s been using them more and more every year as her world seems to get smaller.Thank goodness for things like this, helping keep us connected to the rest of the world, even when we don’t feel like going places and live way out in the sticks.With the ability to plug this directly into one of the vehicles, the generator, and an adapter that’s on a power tool battery, we have plenty of ways to be sure we can reach out to the world, especially in situations like needing to report outages that weren’t scheduled ones, since we need Wi-Fi to report an outage, and without something like this, no power meant no Wi-Fi.All better. No worries about losing power, anymore.Five stars, plus some, for helping us stay online, no matter what.

Well suited for the 50 foot cable run
This Stralink Mini car charger adapter that has an output of 30V 2A is well suited for the longer 50+ foot cable runs. The external housing is made of aluminum so it is apparent that much attention was given to maintaining quality. The product online information doesn’t state what AWG wiring it uses, but if it can handle the longer 50+ foot runs then it would have to use at least 14-16AWG.This adapter was plugged into my Jackery 1000 v2 to power my Mini while using the provided 50 foot cable and I did not experience any problems or connection drops while connected to the internet for over an hour.I highly recommend this car port adapter especially if you plan on using cable runs over 25 feet long. The price of $18 is very reasonable considering that there are plenty of similar adapters on the market only suited for 25 foot runs that actually cost more.

Quality product for keeping your Starlink Mini continuously powered with step-up voltage
Iâve experimented with a couple of other 12V car adapters for the Starlink Mini. In all cases, they work great in my truck with the engine running. However, when the engine is off, the voltage at my cigar lighter drops to 12.4 volts. This is a problem for the Starlink Mini as it will drop anything less than 12.8 volts. This is where a step-up adapter is necessary.This adapter ups the voltage to 30 volts, which is sufficient to keep the dish working without the engine running, an important distinction.There are a couple of use cases for this adapter. The first, as mentioned above, is to have the Starlink Mini powered when you are not running the engine, e.g., stopping at a convenience store. Although leaving it powered on for a long time will drain the battery.The second use case is when running a long cable, like the one included in the kit. I plan on using a Jackery for the power supply which outputs 12 volts. With the step-up at 30 volts, the voltage drops from a long cable to negligible compared to 12 volts.For the price, this step-up adapter is an excellent value.

It works great!
When I’m out with my camper, I put my Starlink Mini on a tripod and stand it out away from everything so that it is unobstructed. I was running the long cable all the way over to my camper, which created a danger of someone tripping over the cord and pulling the Starlink over. Now, I just plug it into a battery pack that has a car charger port on it. This provides the perfect solution for my Starlink setup.For the price and convenience, I would definitely recommend this!

Didnât work that well for us
We are planning a lengthy excursion in New Zealand in a rental RV, and we are trying out various Starlink Mini components and accessories to determine which will be best suited for us to take along on our trip. To do so, we set up a Starlink Mini laboratory of sorts with our Mini mounted on the roof of our SUV and we used that setup to test various Mini components and accessories to select those that will best suit our travel needs.Our observations on this Starlink Mini 12V Car Charger:⢠PROs:o This charger did provide suitable power to our Minio It was compatible with all the Starlink cables we tried with it.o It is compact and travel-ready⢠CONS:o There is no indicator light or any other indication on the charger itself to let you know when it is powered on.o This charger only loosely fits into the 12V socket in our SUV â which would have resulted in unnoticed power outages had we not installed an in-line power monitor in the cabling to alert us (other than the Mini dropping offline, of course)⢠OVERALL: This car charger works OK when connected â but it is a loose fit. This one is not going with us.
