Great solution for rodents
Left it outside for 4 days to get rid of unusual smells.Mixed up some peanut butter and molasses.Put it on the front plate.Set it on our gated patio in 20 minutes we had a young opossum in it.Ordered it for rats.Works flawlessly. If you are trying to catch mice you may want to remove the washer counter weight.

Hoping with fine tuning I can catch the mice and voles that live in my barn.
This type of mouse trap is highly rated for its ability to catch multiple mice. I wanted a heavy duty trap that could stand the outdoor elements.. this one is an all metal design. Assembly and setup was easy, all i needed was a 5 gallon bucket.I set it up using peanut butter as bait. I had read the other reviews and noticed people were saying that the metal baffle was not tall enough which allows mice to reach over and get the bait without standing on the platform… so i made sure to place the bait so it would be harder to reach. After setup it went out to the barn and I waited. 24 hours later.. the bucket was empty, which i found surprising– there is no lack of mice in my barn. So I moved the trap and waited 12 hours or so. Now i could clearly see that the bait had been eaten, no mouse inside.I took the trap to the work bench and decided to make the baffle taller. Drilled a couple holes and riveted on a piece of scrap aluminum. I increased the height about 2 inches. Set out the trap and returned several hours later to find my first capture. a single mouse. That was a few hours ago..I feel like I should have caught more than a single mouse in two days.. so I’ll be setting up a camera to see if/how the trap is being evaded. Maybe I just picked a bad spot, or maybe the mice haven’t found it yet. Either way, I’ll be finding out tomorrow morning.I’m hoping that with a few tweaks I can make this repeat mouse trap work as well as the professionals say. Thanks for reading, and the opportunity to review this item. If I don’t have better luck with this trap, I’m going to move on to the rolling log mouse trap. Good luck!

Sturdy design
These are very good quality. I had purchased some of the plastic ones before and they broke easily.

Exactly what it claims to be.
The Amazon page description of this trap is exactly what I got. It’s sturdy, well painted. I see nothing wrong or poorly made. And it fits my bucket perfectly.Yes, the little “ladder” that allows the rodents access to the top of the bucket (where the trap mechanism is) is not really what I would call robust, but it’s strong enough to handle any mouse I ever saw. As for rats, it would take a FAT rat to cause the ladder to fail.I’m not the least concerned about the ladder. Lean a board, branch, etc.., against your bucket if you don’t like the ladder. With a tall bucket you can catch a lot of rodents.I like it. It’s well made. I don’t have to reset anything after every “catch”.Two days ago I placed it on my property a few miles out of town. Going out there today to see what I caught.Voles as well as mice I hope. D*mn voles are chewing on the electrical wiring. :(I will report back if things did not go well.I’m reporting back, but NOT because things did not go well. The trap works very nicely. Baited it with peanut butter and have caught 2 VERY large voles and a mouse so far.THEY won’t be chewing on the tractor wires anymore. The thing WORKS!

Sturdy and well made
I have a bit of a mouse problem in my garage and was looking for some easier solutions. I heard bucket traps can be very effective. This one is mostly made of metal which, should mean it holds up well. The ramp is plastic, and it’s fairly well made. I have yet to catch anything with it, but I think that’s more of a bait issue then the actual device. It’s an easy setup, you basically just drop it on a 5 gallon bucket, and bait it. There are some adjuster screws to make it more sensitive or less sensitive depending on the size of the rodent you’re trying to catch, and that’s a nice simple feature. Some of the other bucket traps I have tried use stick on weights instead, but this is far easier to adjust. The casting and molding of the plastic ramp seems to be fairly well done, and the tolerances are tight enough that they snap together nicely. If you have someplace to put a trap this size it can be an effective way to catch mice. It’s a pretty good value, because you can catch a lot of mice easily with this, and with the metal construction it should last a long time. Overall I’m happy with the order.

No more sticky pads or nasty mouse traps to clean
In the past I have made something similar with a can and dowel rod and I thought it was pretty effective. This bucket lid mouse trap is ten times more effective than the home made version. It took about 2 minutes to put together and has worked wonders in my workshop the last few weeks. The neighbors chicken coup has caused rats to move into my workshop and I can confirm that this doesn’t just work well on mice but rats as well. Pair this with a metal bucket for a humane trap and release. It can be set up as shown in the description and works however I had an issue with them using the top wall to travel. I set the bucket on a shelf under the wall and placed the steps in an upward fashion for an easier transition and have had tremendous success without food or bait, just in a travel lane. I would give this a ten star if it was available, if you have a rodent problem do yourself a favor and pick up this bucket lid mouse trap.

Not Quite a Mousetrap Masterpiece
So, technically this lid is a mouse trap, but these clever little rodents laughed in its face. The metal is strong, sure, but the design lets a savvy mouse skirt the rulesâwalk around the back, hang on the ledge, and snag the bait without ever taking the plunge. Iâve made a few homemade versions out of cardboard and hangers that work better, and at a fraction of the price. For $30, I expected a little more âmouse justice.â Sometimes the old saying is true: you canât outsmart the mice⦠but maybe you can out-build them.
