Customers say
Customers find the water dispenser to be of high quality and perfect for various small animals like guinea pigs, rabbits, and rats. The bottle’s sturdiness and functionality receive mixed reviews – while some say it stays securely attached to the cage, others report it can come apart, and while some say it works well, others find it completely dysfunctional. The chew-proof feature and material quality also get mixed feedback, with some praising the glass construction while others note it’s not chew-proof and prefer metal over plastic. Installation experiences vary, with some finding it easy to attach while others struggle with the cap/lid not screwing on properly.

Works Well!
I had to buy this because my guinea pig’s old one jist broke after 5 years. The glass didnt shatter, it seems like the ball bearing inside the steel spout got more loose over the years. This is the same one from the old one, just different brands. The older one is Nature Living i initially got from pet supplies plus. This one is more affordable and seems durable. Hope it lasts a good five years as well or more. That being clear bottle makes it easy to see if the water level is low, which can be a bit harder for transluscent ones. Unless you put it right next to a light. If you are having problems opening the cap, just use one of those rubber bands you get whenever you get veggies at your local grocery store. Simply place it around the cap and twist. I like it because it has the aesthetic look. Keeping it simple is sometimes the best way.

My pet rats love it
These glass bottles are always great to use for my pet rats , it doesn’t leak , only downfall is of course glass can break , and I broke my previous one on accident , but I’m grateful I can easily get one on Amazon

Quality Has Gone Way Down Hill
Over the last two years I have bought three glass water bottles in the 12 ounce size. The first one I bought about a year ago in 2023 and it was just like in the pictures with a stainless steel cap and worked great. The other two I just purchased in June 2024 and they have plastic caps that do not feel like they are anywhere near as good of quality as the steel ones from the year before. I decided to give them a try anyway and the plastic cap makes it much more difficult to adjust the angle of the water tube itself as you tighten things – it wants to bind and not allow adjusting. But OK I can live with that – just an inconvenience compared to the old style. Next, when I went to mount the bottle to the cage the newer springs are now literally several times over longer than the one I received from last years bottle. OK – maybe that is better because too long of a spring can be adjusted shorter and maybe someone needs the longer spring so OK I’ll live with it as well. So I got the first one mounted. Then I go to rinse out and fill the second bottle from this 2024 order and there’s a hole in the bottle and water is leaking. There actually is a hole in the glass bottle as if it was formed that way. It is not a crack mind you – but instead a relatively clean hole about 1/8 inch in diameter. I’ll be returing the defective one and not buying these any more.

Works well!
Great replacement glass water tube for my gerbil’s cage. It is working well and no leaks! Note that the screw-on-lid is plastic, not metal, so if you have an intense chewer â¤ï¸, this water bottle may be damaged. I overlooked this when I ordered, so I was expecting all glass and metal. Happy with this item though for the price and my needs.

Love it, my birds adjusted easily to this!
UPDATE: It works! I was able to train them successfully by tapping the ball on the bottle slowly a couple times a day. I think it helped that they were interested in the bottle right off the bat. Each time I did this they would turn their heads and I would repeat water and talk to them and let them know they could get water from there.I also removed their original water bowl while doing this. I would put it back in the evening or if it were super hot that day. I didnât want them to get dehydrated so I would often leave the bowl of water over night. However I have now replaced that bowl with more food and Iâve seen both the birds going for the bottle!!What I like about this bottle is that itâs not spring loaded so it doesnât take much effort for the birds to get water. Just a few taps and thatâs it. The bottle does not and has not leaked. There are only a few times when loading and unloading (for cleaning purposes) that the water bottle will create a droplet of water to form at the end but no more than that.ââââââââââââââââââââOriginal:I knew I wanted this for my birds, but the thing is now I have to get them to use it. The birds are young and can be trained. I love the idea of this bottle and really hope it works for us! I got the smaller 6oz bottle because I only have two birds I donât think I needed the bigger size. I like that it came with everything you need to attach it to the cage. I just ended up cutting slits where the holes were to remove. The bottles opening is big enough to use a bottle brush cleaner so I washed the bottle prior to filling. I filled all the way with water as mentioned, and began attaching it to the cage. I have a round cage so I had a little trouble with placement, I will most likely move it if needed but immediately my male bird showed a huge interest in the bottle which I thought was interesting.I was reading the comments for birds and some said that their bird didnât drink from it so Iâve left their normal water bowl but I am really hoping to train the birds to use this. It would be a lot easier on everyone I think because their water bowl needs to be emptied and refilled about twice a day! Thatâs a waste of water when it gets food and other debris inside. I was tapping the ball on the dropper and both birds seemed interested and were turning their heads. I will be giving an update as soon as I can. I have two small yellow parakeets who were born earlier this year so hopefully we can get them trained to use this!As I mentioned before I had an issue with placement because my cage is round but I was able to make it work and youâll be able to see that in the photos. I love that it has a flat side to make it easier to attach. I do notice that a drop of water forms at the tip of the bottle but it isnât constantly dripping. It seems easy enough that if the bird went up to it and tapped it they would be able to get water out very easily. Overall Iâm super pleased with this product and I hope that my birds will be too.

Best bird water bottle I have found
Consider this to be the best flat-sided glass water bottle on the market. Use it for my Senegal parrot. Easy to clean, very sturdy, comes with two attachment devices that keep it stable.

The metal cap is missing rendering the bottle unusable. Iâd love to receive a replacement.

I have rats and always had issues finding good water bottles that didnât leak or break after a few months of use. Iâve had this bottle for over a year now and it still works amazing. The quality is really good and I have no complaints at all. I never have 1 leak. As mentioned in some other reviews there is a specific way to tighten this bottle so if people say it leaks it could be because they tightened it incorrectly. You need to make sure everything is dry when screwing the top on as well, as any water around the opening of the bottle or in the plastic/rubber cover will prevent a good seal. When screwing the top on itâs best to start with the spout facing the flat side of the bottle, and then you hold the spout itself still while turning the plastic cover clockwise. After you feel youâve tightened the cover enough you then turn the spout clockwise as well until itâs tight. This will take you a fair bit of trial and error to get right but after you get it once itâs so easy to do every other time. You want the tightened spout to be facing the flat side of the water bottle when youâre done as well. If your spout is tightened anywhere not facing the flat side then you should loosen and try again, it really is a lot of fine tuning to get it just right but once you do this bottle will not leak. Itâs also really easy for rats to use, and I havenât noticed my boys struggle to get a sufficient water flow or anything. The ball bearing moves easily for them as it is light and never gets stuck in the spout. The bottle is very easy to clean as well. Also the turtle floater is adorable, love that little guy (although be careful when emptying the water bottle in the sink as the turtle floaty is small enough to go down the drain). I highly recommend this bottle, especially to other rat parents.
