Have you ever been frustrated with dead crickets?

We were! We were always getting dead crickets.

After years of shopping around, testing other species, and learning more about crickets, we found Banded Crickets Gryllodes sigillatus! These crickets ship well all year long; they weren’t dying when the temperatures would spike a little bit, or if the temperatures unexpectedly dropped. In most climates, they would consistently arrive alive and fresh.

They were also living much longer than other species we had experience with.

What benefits do banded crickets have for my pets?

All crickets are bred and raised to provide you the best quality feeder insect. These crickets also naturally contains more protein compared to other species of crickets, which is important for building and repairing tissue in your pets!

But what if they don’t all arrive alive?

Our goal is to get insects to customers that are alive on arrival every single time! We understand that sometimes because of extreme temperatures, handling mishaps, or shipping mistakes that just doesn’t happen. For the times when your live items don’t quite make it, we have a generous 3 Day Life Insurance Policy* on all live insects!

How are they packed in the winter when it is cold?

When the temperatures drop we switch over to cricket boxes that do not have vents. These boxes do a great job holding body heat from the crickets in the box, keeping them toasty during their winter travels. They also eliminate potentially fatal drafts!

The boxes are not airtight, and crickets can still breathe in the box. As oxygen levels decline, the crickets slow down their metabolism and movement. This state allows them to survive shipping. We’ve had them last over 2 weeks this way!

When choosing the size of your feeder insects, we recommend choosing insects equal to or less than the distance between your animals eyes. If you choose insects larger than that measurement, the animals can have difficulties consuming or digesting the feeders.

    Hearty and healthy crickets
We’re novice reptile caretakers and this was only our second time ordering crickets. The first time we ordered from Flukers and many were dead. This order was incredible! All were alive and I’ve been able to keen them alive for 4 weeks. These crickets are healthy and give our bearded dragon a workout trying to catch them.

AMAZING As Usual! Early arrival, ALL Alive, 250 1/2in Healthy Crickets! Thank You,100★’s!!!
I was thrilled with a much earlier arrival than the expected date of Oct. 9th and they came today, Oct. 3rd! I ordered them on October 1st so this was definitely a very early arrival but like they must have known, I desperately needed them!!! Such a blessing for my Crimson Giant Day Gecko and 2 Gray Tree Frogs! I was actually scrambling to try to get an order for hopefully, small enough Dubia Roaches since I don’t have a vehicle and have to rely on a large “Pet…” Store employee to understand my needs. Some definitely do… The other 95% just don’t. Actually my delivery driver was more understanding and actually called me to find out my specific needs! She also, following my advice from past experience, had the “store” employee physically count the Dubia Roaches for me. The” 50 count containers” almost always have only 25-30… And that’s been in multiple stores in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. So that’s a free tip if you’re shopping in store people, employees can and Will do a container count Before you buy… If not… Management definitely will and almost always quite happily. If the container is under filled they WILL give you the discount for the correct price! Don’t Ever feel uncomfortable about asking for a container count… It’s Your Right, Your Money, and for Your Animals!!! Sorry for a rant unrelated to THIS PRODUCT but unfortunately sometimes emergencies happen and we can’t just dash to someplace that’s as reliable and trustworthy as Josh’s Frog’s in an instant… or life would be much less stressful for some animal care LOL!Now, regarding the 250 crickets that thankfully arrived so early. My Only Complaint was my Own lack of a large enough plastic container to dump them into as I opened the well taped box! But the few escapees were either caught quickly since I guess they thought I was a safe spot to jump on (thankfully I’m not terrified of crickets, just roaches lol) or my very curious cat decided they were treats, and one of my dogs thought that they were supposed to stomp them. 🤦 (She learned that from a past roach infestation thanks to a neighbor, ugh.) But when the box was completed empty I was absolutely amazed that I saw only 1… 1 dead little cricket!!! And that’s probably from me having to get the last egg crate out which was in the box pretty snuggly. I may have accidentally done that, or not. Doesn’t matter. One dead 1/2in cricket out of 250 that were shipped, shook around, and probably tossed too… Absolutely Amazing!!! This is why, when I order crickets, I ALWAYS order from Josh’s Frog’s… And will continue to do so!Sure, not every delivery will be this perfect, but that’s because shipping is not smooth on boxes, especially if the box Isn’t Read by Every Single Person! That’s NOT on Josh’s Frog’s, but the shipping process unfortunately. Also, I’ve seen a LOT of medium or even negative reviews because the crickets are shipped loose in the box. All I can say is… If you Don’t Bother Reading the Details, and Josh’s Frog’s do pretty well to make sure they make it Known how they ship Crickets after a certain amount… That’s Your Own Fault!!! But their video, which I personally hadn’t seen until this order, was so fantastic, and all I can say about it is THANK YOU Josh’s Frog’s!!! It’s obvious Now but, lol, I used to go insane trying to get them into the cricket keepers before I saw this!!!Following the video that suggests when opening the box that IS well taped, but as stated, (In Sooo many places on the site lol!) definitely has the crickets loose in the box with just the egg crate inside… My experience was So Much Easier!!! Get a big enough Sterilite or CLEAR PLASTIC Rubbermaid tub and just open the box, dump, remove egg crate, repeat, ect. I had the best success using a paper towel tube to then load the crickets up and put them into the keepers. Same with empty toilet paper rolls since those just stayed in the keepers. The most difficult was getting the last few dumped over… Next time, those will just be fed to the lizard!!!There was like zero smell too which is surprising, and they’re way of shipping is probably the safest and most efficient and effective for the survival of the crickets… Especially with bulk orders! My animals absolutely thrive on these crickets so they must have superior nutrition, as reported by Josh’s Frog’s website! Thanks again Josh’s Frog’s for being a good company for so many types of reptiles and amphibians and even more! 💟

  4. I am very unhappy. One week until my daughters 8 year old birthday party and the send an adult 2XL instead of a child small and even in the wrong color.

    90% were dead!!!!
90% of them were dead. They were delivered and within the hour taken inside to the cricket cage. I wish I could get a refund!!

    Must Need for your Reptile
These live crickets arrived active, healthy, and ready to go, my reptile couldn’t be happier. They’re clearly well cared for, and the quality is far better than what I’ve picked up at local stores. The only downside is, let’s just say the little guys don’t exactly arrive looking glamorous, just a box full of chirping chaos. I opened the box expecting them to be in little containers, I was proved wrong very fast when crickets started jumping out towards me. But honestly, that just adds to the fun of unboxing. Great product and will definitely order again!

Definitely not 1/2 inch and unpackaging nightmare
Packaging:My last order of crickets came in a tube within the box..this time they came in the box alone with some vents and it was extremely difficult to get them out. Luckily I did this outside as I did last time. I do not think there was any escapees but there was a few in the box I really just could not get out. Took me 2 hours. The tube was much easier because I could at least open the box with piece of mind and then tap them out of the tube at my own pace to make sure their enclosure was set up properly. Last time I was able to set up feeding stations with their cricket feeder..this time I pretty much had to throw everything in there ASAP otherwise invasive crickets would’ve been all over my yard.Size:I ordered 500 1/4 inch crickets last time and they were teeny. Almost a little too small for my baby wtfs so I decided to go with 250 1/2 inch so I didn’t have to feed as many at once because I watch them hunt most nights to make sure they get enough and that there aren’t a bunch of escapees in the terrarium. These are NOT 1/2 inch..they are nearly as large as my baby wtfs and they chirp (loudly so it’s more than a few that are adults) which means they are at least 1 inch. I think I may have to cut them in half in order to feed my frogs because I just watched my poor baby frog struggle to get one down nearly her size. I had to pull its head off with tweezers because she was stuck with it for some time. Not the greatest experience. Also my frogs don’t eat things that don’t move so what an adventure I am having. There are crickets of varying sizes so I will be fishing for those but the majority are very large I may have to end up reselling these to someone else and buying smaller crickets elsewhere I don’t want my frogs to end up with an impaction. Harold on the left is bigger (probably 1 1/2 inch) and can probably handle a few but is still a baby too. Matcha on the right is probably about 1 1/4 inch so 1 inch is a lot for her to handle..double the size between their eyes.

Nice and lively with very few losses.
Really nice crickets and almost none dead. I bought a container from another supplier and many more were dead. They are a bit larger than I thought but they will work well for my intended use. These are much more lively than the other batch of crickets I recently bought as well.
